Paid parking near Zayed City market soon

The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi announced on Sunday that Mawaqif paid parking services will be applicable at the multi-storey car park (2) of Zayed City Market, near the intersection of East Street and Zayed Second Street.

The new services will cover all existing 724 parking bays there, starting from Tuesday.

The new service is part of Mawaqif 2010 plan, revealed earlier this year with the aim to manage car parking facilities and spaces in Abu Dhabi by helping motorist easily find a parking bay during the day.

Paid parking is enforced from 8 AM to 9 PM, Saturdays to Thursdays, at a rate of Dh2 per hour or Dh15 per day.

Owners of vehicles parked illegally or in an disorderly manner will be fined at all times even during Fridays and public holidays.

Najib Al Zarooni, General Manager of Parking at the Department of Transport said: "Mawaqif was created to serve the community and its role is not limited to the implementation of paid parking services. Department of Transport is introducing additional services and have issued tenders for the provision of automated car parking facilities car parking structures in a number of areas, with the aim of providing comprehensive and sustainable solutions to address the growing needs for parking."

Customer service representatives are available to assist the public at the Department of Transport Customer Service Center on Hamdan Street from 7 AM to 9 PM Saturdays to Thursdays and from 5 PM to 9 PM on Fridays.

The second Department of Transport Customer Service Center is at Marina Mall, and it is open from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM Sunday to Thursday.

Both centers are closed during public holidays.
