New era in Pakistan cricket dawns… again

A week is a long time in the highly politicised world of Pakistan cricket.

On July 13, Shahid Afridi returned to the test arena for the first time in four years to captain Pakistan in its nominal home test series with Australia, the first of which was played at Lord’s due to the security situation at home.

Yet before Australia won the game by 150 runs, Afridi had resigned and announced his immediate retirement from test cricket.
