The eclectic outdoor shopping and entertainment arena is back for another winter. With countries this year ranging from Kenya to China, Iran to the Philippines, Global Village has the most unusual array of Christmas gifts anywhere in the UAE.

With wooden animals in the African countries to furniture in the Arabic pavilions and all manner of toys there are stocking fillers for everyone.

-GREEN COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS MARKET

The Christmas Market in the Green Community has become something of an institution over the past few years. Today, between 5pm and 7pm, there is a children's craft and activity session where youngsters can make their own tree decorations before marvelling at the huge Christmas tree outside, which is lit up once the sun goes down.

Parents, meanwhile, can meander through the shops and stalls in the market for last-minute gifts. Those who spend Dh100 will be given a raffle ticket, a gift and photo with Santa. The raffle has Dh25,000 of prizes to be won and will take place on December 31 at 6pm.

-MADINAT JUMEIRAH

If the large malls are just too much during the festive period head down to the Madinat Jumeirah to enjoy some outdoor shopping. The Festive Market, being held at the Souk Amphitheatre is a selection of festive huts with all kinds of great gifts and toys for sale plus there's food and beverages stalls when you need a rest.

A sparkling Christmas tree, the Madinat Choir and festive background music creates a seasonal atmosphere. And for children, Santa Claus will be distributing gifts every night between 6pm – 8.30pm.

The market is open every night through December from 5pm until 11pm.

-FESTIVAL CENTER HOLIDAY BAZAAR

Located in Festival Square by the waterfront, the Christmas market at Dubai Festival City is open until the end of the year. The 20 traditional stalls, all decorated in a Christmas flavour sell many hand-made items and festive food.

-IBN BATTUTA MALL WINTER WONDERLAND

China Court has been transformed into a magical grotto for the festive season. Market stalls have been organised by the people behind Marina Mall so expect the same handicrafts that are found at Dubai Marina every weekend as well as others focusing purely on Christmas presents.

There is also a free gift wrapping service, live Ice Age shows for children and special screenings of winter movies on every day until January 4.
