Lacoste bites into jewellery market

Fashion brand Lacoste is expanding its activities into the fashion jewellery market, it said in a statement released to Emirates Business yesterday.

The line will be developed by Lacoste licensee GL Bijoux and is likely to hit Middle Eastern markets next year.

“The Lacoste fashion jewellery is part of the strategy developed with our partners to propose a more complete feminine offer to our clients,” Lacoste CEO Christophe Chenut said.

“This new licence confirms our willingness to increase our share [of the women’s market] to accompany the apparel and leather goods development.”

The new line will be launched in September at the Lacoste fashion show during New YorkFashion Week, when a debut Spring/Summer 2011 collection will be presented.

It was created to bring a complementary touch of audacity and fashion to the Lacoste feminine look, the statement said.

It will roll out five jewellery lines, including bracelets, necklaces, brooches, bags and mobile phone charms.

It hopes to embody the roots and true values of the Crocodile: authenticity, "joie de vivre" and relaxed elegance.

The agreement with GL Bijoux covers the design, production and distribution of Lacoste jewellery.

The brand already has a wide product range, from footwear and apparel to fragrances, eyewear and watches, leather goods and home textiles, and mobile phones.
