Two sentenced for forgery

The Dubai Criminal Court yesterday issued prison and deportation sentences in two cases and adjourned a case of kidnapping and ransom to May 30 for the verdict.
It sentenced two Indians for six months each followed by deportation for forgery. FJ, 34, and ME, 25, were found guilty of forging a salary certificate and a labour card in the name of Emirates airline. They used the false documents to obtain a loan of Dh250,000 from Dubai Bank.
The court also sentenced YJ, a 31-year-old Ethiopian visitor, to six months followed by deportation for stealing a wallet containing Dh64,000 from WA. The theft happened when another accused, who is at large, hit WA in the leg while the Ethiopian stole the wallet. The plaintiff chased YJ and caught him with the help of bystanders.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned to May 30 for the verdict in a case where six Bangladeshis are charged with kidnapping a compatriot and asking for a Dh5,000 ransom. The six are DS (30, worker), MK (23, driver), ZA (24, building worker), RM (24, unemployed), MA (23, worker) and MA (39, unemployed).
The plaintiff, SA (39, labour supervisor) testified that the sixth defendant went to his residence in Satwa and asked him to come out for a chat. SA left his residence and the defendant asked him to get into a car but he refused, whereupon two men came out of the car and forced him in.
