A Brazilian housewife and sometime model who has the world's biggest breasts must now lose them if she wants to live.

Sheyla Hershey, 30, is now being treated in the United States for a potentially fatal infection on her 38KKK implants. The model told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Surgeons say there's an 80 per cent chance I can keep one, but if I lose one, I don't want to keep the other.

"The chance of being able to keep both is 10 or 20 per cent."

She contracted the staph infection following an operation in Brazil last month, where she had travelled to have her breasts, hailed as the world's largest by a Brazilian book of records, restored after giving birth last year. American doctors refused an augmentation procedure as it is illegal in the US to place more than a gallon of silicone in implants.

The bug has reportedly entered her bloodstream, leaving her struggling to breathe. "I am in a lot of pain which I am trying to control with medication. The infection is like a cancer," the paper quoted her as saying. "The only way to get rid of it is to cut away breast tissue."

The model, who lives in Houston, Texas, has had plastic surgery on other parts of her body, too, including liposuction and a nose job.

Boyfriend wanted her to stop

The model's British boyfriend had reportedly paid for many of the operations. The couple broke up because he wanted her to stop getting the implants. "I loved him very much but I had to leave him to follow my dream," she has said.

Her family has also reportedly begged her to have breast reduction surgery.

Among the doctors she has consulted in the past is Dr Robert M Rey, better known as Dr 90210, from the hit television series of the same name.
