Casting coup: Shah Rukh, Aamir to work in Karan Johar's film?

Bollywood's 'perfectionist Khan' Aamir is waiting for King Khan to say yes to a project offered to them together.

The project in question is being offered by King of family dramas Karan Johar, who's trying to arrange this casting coup. According to sources, while Aamir Khan has gladly accepted the offer, Shah Rukh is still thinking whether he should do the project or not.

While SRK holds the record of doing maximum movies with Karan Johar, it's strange that the new joinee in KJo camp Aamir has  given his nod so easily, considering his perfectionist nakhras.

If insiders are to be believed, bhaanja Imran has convinced mamu Aamir to do the film. Well SRK, we wonder what's stopping you, the 'dog' comment? Oops!

SRK apologizes to Sallu, Farah in public

(AGENCY)

While shooting for Karan Johar's ‘Koffee With Karan’, Shah Rukh Khan took the opportunity to apologise his friends, Farah Khan and Salman Khan.

In his apologizing statement, he accepted, "if Farah, Salman were not talking to him, it was probably his fault". Shah Rukh appeared solo in the programme.

Khan declared publicly that he wanted to bury the old hatchet and wanted to befriend with them again. His relationship with Salman Khan turned ugly when he involved in a spat with Salman during Katrina Kaif’s birthday years back. From then, they stopped seeing each other.

He turned enemy with his very best friend Farah Khan who was family to him over the film, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ when Farah chose Akshay Kumar for the lead role instead of him.

Let bygones be bygones and now Shahrukh Khan wanted back his friends. Hope, Salman and Farah are listening.

I served tea to Smita Patil: Aamir Khan

(GETTY)

Bollywood's numero uno Aamir Khan, who is a good ten years younger than Smita Patil, met the legendary actress just once in his life. It was way back in the 80s, when he was assisting his uncle, film-maker Nasir Hussain, reports The Times of India.

Aamir told "I still remember Smitaji was shooting on an adjacent set. After pack-up, she dropped in on our set to speak to Nasir saab. I had heard so much about her. I adored her in Bazaar. I was a huge fan of Smitaji and I was curious to get a closer look at her. I ran to serve her chai."

Years later, Smita's son Prateik was given a break by Aamir Khan in Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na. And he is also the leading man of Kiran Rao's Dhobi Ghat.

Kiran Rao, the director of Dhobi Ghat and Aamir Khan's wife told TOI, "I was very young when she passed away. But she is just so amazing.

"Recently, there was the retrospective at the Lincoln Centre. I was just looking at the brochure... Smita was so spectacular looking. And the range of roles that she played is nothing like we have ever seen.

No actress in the history of Indian cinema has played the kind of roles she has. I can say that perhaps it's only Nargis, who did glamorous roles and then did a Mother India. Smita Patil was the next. Her beauty is timeless."

Vidya Balan: The new Silk Smitha

(AFP)

Vidya Balan to visit Silk Smitha's home and family before getting into the part for Milan Luthria's Silk Smitha biopic, The Dirty Picture, reports Mid-Day.

Smitha was the controversial queen of sleaze from Tamil cinema who died under mysterious circumstances in 1996.

Balan intends to visit Eluru, Smitha's birthplace in Andhra Pradesh, as well as Chennai, the late actress' workbase. She will also meet people who were close to Smitha.

A source was quoted by the daily as saying, "This is Vidya's second biographical character in a year. Just as UTV made sure that her part as Sabrina Lal in No One Killed Jessica was approved by her family, Vidya wants Silk Smitha's family to give their go-ahead."

When Rekha inspired Ash...

(AFP)

There was a time when stars were proud to model their performances on their illustrious predecessors. No longer.

In Guzaarish, Aishwarya's role of the imperturbable and uncompromising nurse who gives away nothing of her inner turmoil as she tends to the ailing hero, is clearly modelled on Rekha's dark, mysterious look, Aishwarya denies any likeness, reports The Times of India.

Rekha, incidentally has been linked to Aishwarya's father-in law and superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the past.

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, however, admits Aishwarya's looks and personality are modelled on Rekha. The perfectionist director found an ideal reference point in Rekha's performances and personality.

Says Sanjay, Rekha always holds back. Aishwarya's character in Guzaarish is like the ocean. On the surface, everything has to appear calm. But underneath there are many storms brewing.

This was Aishwarya's most challenging role to date. She had to convey her characters deeply troubled soul without using the props that usually define a character. Her face had to register no overt emotions.

It had to be all internalised. Rekhaji, I think, is very skilled at holding back her emotions. I wanted a less-is-more performance from Aishwarya, like Rekhajis.

Bhansali told TOI, I'm very keen to show Guzaarish to Rekha. I want to know if she sees the likeness in Aishwarya to her personality.
