Heroine-centric films have never really been the order of the day.

But looks like the genre is now alive and kicking, with more female centric movies in the block.

In recent times there has been an upsurge in the number of these films which made with heroines taking centre stage.

This month major box office releases will see B-town beauties playing the lead.

So who's going to be the winner as the battle that wages between beauties of different generations, is not going to be an easy one for sure.

'Heroine': Kareena Kapoor's 'Heroine' will be released on September 21 and it is believed that her powerful performance is going to get her a national award. The film has been surrounded by controversies even before it began. First it was in news when Aishwarya Rai became pregnant and director Madhur Bhandarkar had to drop her and later for the dialogues that were alleged to be jibes on several Bollywood female stars.

'Ishkq in Paris': It is Preity Zinta's maiden home production. The film has Salman Khan as guest appearance. No high hopes of this one but you never know. To celebrate the Indo-French collaboration, Preity has planned to have a grand premiere of her film in Paris. The event is expected to be a gala affair with a lot of bigwigs in attendance. With the kind of publicity it is getting, it is hoped that the film will fare well in the success chart.

'English Vinglish': A story about an insecure Indian housewife who tries hard to learn English, the language of the elite. It is Sridevi's comeback film and high hope is attached to it. The burden is heavier as there's no hero to support Sridevi here. Directed by Gauri Shinde, the film will be released on October 5.

'Aiyyaa': Directed by Sachin Kundalkar, this film is about a woman and her spicy hunt for her dream man. Rani Mukerji's last film was 'No one Killed Jessica' in which she shared the screen space with Vidya Balan. She will also be seen in Aamir Khan's thriller 'Talaash', but here again she has Kareena to share the limelight with. So she is left with 'Aiyya' which has her in the main role. Rani has really worked hard for this movie and its success surely means a lot for her.
