Is size zero back in Bollywood? Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma on slim list

When Kareena Kapoor pulled a size zero five years ago, the world watched the drama unspool much like a popcorn fare on celluloid.
 
While the Kapoor lass walked away with the headlines and a few endorsements in her kitty, voluptuous women stepped up into the spotlight, excess calories and all, to blast the fad away with a few ‘Dirty Pictures’ and a ‘Dabangg’.
 
But it seems Vidya Balan’s and Sonakshi Sinha’s efforts that fat can also be fit has not found many takers, with size zero slowly, but surely, sneaking back into Bollywood’s style files.

Anushka Sharma
 
Quite recently, the ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ actress was pulled up with accusations of anorexia, which she vehemently denied to the press.
 
But if anyone saw Anushka Sharma’s bikini clad body in her latest Shah Rukh Khan starrer, could question what size she really is.
 
Yet Sharma’s recent replies to the size zero accusations were three fold. She first said: “I am very tall, 5feet 9inches to be precise. This means that if I really put on weight, I shall start looking like a giant. I don’t have the tendency to put on weight.”
 
She later said: “I have always been a lean girl. And for heaven’s sake, I am not anorexic.”

Then in a DNA interview she added: “There is nothing known as size zero. I am a size 8, UK. To call me zero is ridiculous.”
 
Err, Khloe Kardashian, at 5’10, is the same size. Compare the two stars and the pictures speak for themselves. 
 
Priyanka Chopra
 
Looking chic in a black mini while meeting the press for the Salman Khan ‘Ahlan Bollywood’ show, Priyanka Chopra appeared super slim, despite the camera being accused of piling on the pounds.
 
The actress has always maintained a fit and healthy body, but those close to Chopra are now whispering size zero these last few months as she now looks alarmingly thin.
 
However, when quizzed a few months ago during the album launch of ‘In My City’, she said: “Size zero and me, no I don't believe in it. Who said I am size zero?”
 
Kangana Ranaut
 
Always known as a trendsetter of sorts in Bollywood, the super stylish and super skinny Kangana Ranaut was once quoted as saying that it wasn’t Kareena Kapoor but she who had started this size zero trend.
 
Is that a claim to fame, even?
 
Well, the Ranaut girl certainly seemed to think so.
 
The actress told Box-Office India in a chat: “Yes, you could call me a trendsetter because when I made my debut in this industry, everyone was so plump and I was really skinny, and suddenly all these girls started following the size-zero trend. You know, during ‘Gangster’, people asked me why I was so skinny and then later, the same people started going size-zero.”
 
Oh dear.
 
Deepika Padukone
 
The stunner has always been slim, ever since she burst onto the screen with ‘Om Shanti Om’ several years ago.
 
Yet, Deepika Padukone decided to shed some more weight to get into a bikini for ‘Cocktail’ and remain that thin for ‘Race 2’.
 
If the latter film’s promos are anything to go by, Padukone’s figure could be termed a size zero, but, naturally, she denies the claim and that she would ever jump onto that bandwagon.
 
She was quoted in the media as saying: “I do not like to work much on my weight because I love food and I cannot keep away from my favourite dishes. I also choose my roles in a way that I don't have to lose or gain weight.”
 
Okay then.
 
Karisma Kapoor
 
Aside from Kangana Ranaut, it seems Kareena Kapoor is the only one who admits a size zero and the star sibling says that about her sister Karisma Kapoor.
 
During the launch of the book, ‘Women & The Weight Loss Tamasha’ by Rujuta Diwekar, the sisters addressed the media, with Kareena saying: “The crown of size zero goes to Karisma Kapoor. She is the size zero of the industry today.”
 
Mother of two, Karisma has set tongues wagging with her dramatic weight loss. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, may be you should take notes.
