Filmmaker at Mt Everest:

A filmmaker based in Santa Monica, California, is the third American confirmed among the dead in Saturday's (April 25) massive 7.9-magnitude earthquake in Nepal.

Tom Taplin, 61, had been visiting the country while shooting a documentary about the Mount Everest base camp, according to NBC News.

When his wife Cory Freyer heard about the deadly earthquake, which thus far has claimed more than 4,000 lives, she texted her husband but received no answer – until Taplin's guide phoned her with the tragic news.

Actor's car overturned:

In India, a young Telugu film actor, K. Vijay, 25, was in Nepal along with the unit of Telugu movie etakaram.com for shooting.

Music director Kishan said in Hyderabad that he received information Monday that Vijay died when they were returning from shooting.

The car in which they were travelling overturned.

Vijay, a character actor who was also the choreographer, died on the spot while three others with him were injured.

The 20-member unit was initially thought to be safe. Kishan said the team had left Hyderabad on April 15 for Gorakhpur en route to Nepal.

8 crew members die

Bollywood actress Mugdha Godse was in complete shock when she woke up to the news of the death of 8 crew members from her upcoming film in the devastating Nepal earthquake.

The actress was in Nepal about a week ago with her co-star Ruslaan Mumtaz shooting for the film directed by Manoj Dhaman.

The team was shooting in Pokhra, which is close to the epicentre of the earthquake.

Mugdha took to Twitter to mourn the death of her crew members. She tweeted, "RIP my 8 crew members, victims to force of nature #earthquake #nepal worked for my upcoming film, very very shocking and depressing..."

Thank you everyone for your messages and your kind words. I'm on my way to Nepal now and will head toward base camp to try and find Zachary. I will be with a small crew helping with a chopper, a dr and we will have a satellite phone available for any Australian there who needs to reach home and tell their loved ones they're ok, I know so many of us are still waiting to hear but communication is down. Stay positive everyone, I feel optimistic that he is alive and stuck. I know that the news have been eager to talk to my mum but it would be respectful to leave her alone at this time. My heart goes out to every family who is still waiting to hear, I can't imagine how they feel at Mt Everest. I'm looking forward to seeing my little brother and getting him out safely. This was the last picture he sent me, he sure captured her beauty. #family #nepal #australia #speaklove
