Akshay's secret to fitness & great body

If there is one actor in Indian film industry who has maintained his physique since day one, it's Akshay Kumar.

Fans always wonder what keeps this particular Desi Boy fighting fit. Akshay Kumar would like us to believe that he follows his grandmother’s advice.

“My grandmother used to have two spoons of ghee regularly, I follow that too. One should not avoid ghee, our body—bones and joints—need that kind of food. It is a wrong notion that ghee is fattening, although one must exercise after enjoying such goodies. After an intake, exercise is also necessary.”

And that’s what Akki does, crediting his muscle power to a rigorous gym routine. He also offers advice to those who complain of aches and pains after a visit to the gym.

“In a workout, the most important thing is a warm up before starting and then calming down after the session. Most people think the real thing is the workout but the fact is your body needs to be readied for the exercise and then your nerves need to be relaxed after the session. Another problem these days is that a lot of people have started taking steroids and powders to build up their body. It is a shortcut, but not helpful in the long run.” 

But just ghee and exercise might not do the trick. The Khiladi Kumar’s delicious-at-40 body is the result of strict discipline, he reveals. His fame has not changed his practice of going to bed early and rising early.

“I don’t really enjoy partying. I usually make an appearance and leave. I start my day at 4.30 am and in the evening I have my dinner by 6.30 pm and am deep in slumber by 9 pm. This is one preference Twinkle and I share; both of us like to sleep early. I have done photo shoots at 5 in the morning with a lot of heroines yelling at me for this schedule. But it has been a habit since childhood. Even Ayurveda and Allopathy suggest that one should have dinner before 7 pm.”

So, now that the secret of the fit body is out we are sure fans would love to try that out.
