Director Madhur Bhandarkar has come out in the open about the controversy over 'Heroine' trailer and says they did not mean to demean anyone.

The teaser of forthcoming Bollywood flick 'Heroine' has left Dubai residents teed off.

Reason? The movie has a dialogue that puts Bollywood actresses who go to Dubai to shame!

A scene included in the flick which has Kareena Kapoor lashing out at journalists hasn’t gone down well with those who belong to and stay in the city.

For the uninitiated, Kareena tells mediapersons, “You people should be writing scripts. If a heroine buys a car, it's given to her by a businessman, if she goes to LA, she's getting plastic surgery done and, God forbid, if she goes to Dubai, you people make her a rate card.”

UAE residents were left fuming on this generalisation and interpretation of the country.

Now the particular scene will be chopped off for the Dubai residents and the censor board has passed the version.

Bhandarkar clarified that they did not mean to demean anyone, reports Hindustan Times.

Bhandarkar explained that the character played by Kareena only stated that there are people who hold such perception.

'Heroine', which tracks the journey of an actress, also stars Arjun Rampal. The film is slated for a September 21 release.
