Bigg Boss: Why Imam had no chance against Urvashi... or Shweta Tiwari

So what's the common thread that binds Shweta Tiwari and Urvashi Dholakia? They are the winners of two seasons of the most popular Indian television reality show - Bigg Boss.

It is also interesting that in the last three seasons women have been walking away with the Bigg Boss bumper prize money, despite some very enterprising men like Ashmit Patel and Imam Siddique trying their best to wrest it away from them. TV actress Juhi Parmar, better known as 'Kumkum' won Big Boss 5.

Coincidentally, both Shweta and Urvashi (winners of Bigg Boss season 4 and 6, respectively) have previously been a part of main cast in Ekta Kapoor's serials which has been aired on Indian television. The audience, in fact, knows them better and inside out as 'Prerna' and 'Komolika'.

In fact, both the women have been co-stars in the past working in the same soap - Kasautii Zindagii Kay - which ended in 2008. Shweta was the protagonist and Urvashi the antagonist for the same daily serial that aired on the rival channel Star Plus.

So, what makes these women resilient and stay calm in the face of extreme drama, tantrums, tempers and all kinds of extravagant emotions that make Bigg Boss such a big draw to its loyal audience, and walk home as the winner?

Did the Indian queen of soaps, Ekta, groom Urvashi and Shweta to be big achievers or did some painful incidents in their personal lives make them determined to be high achievers in life?

Let's take a sneak peak at their personal lives to understand them better. Both Urvashi and Shveta have been through traumatic marriages, messy divorce and are single mothers who are bringing up their off-spring/s on their own.

Urvashi Dholakia

Urvashi participated in Bigg Boss 6 and on Day 97, she emerged as the winner of the season.

Married at 16, mother of had twin boys at 17, Urvashi found herself divorced and on her own one-and-a-half years later. Her kids study in a boarding school while she works as a television actress to make ends meet.

Although, Urvashi had been working as a child artiste in commercials and television soaps, she shot to limelight with the role of 'Komolika', a crafty daughter-in-law in 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' in 2001.

Managing a demanding career and bringing up twins is no easy feat.

Shweta Tiwari

A fantastic dancer and actor, Shweta married actor Raja Chaudhary at the age of 18. The couple finally divorced after nine years of turbulent marriage in 2007. The couple have a daughter named Palak.

Shweta and Raja were involved in a messy divorce and even a messier custody fight over their daughter. The couple often made headlines for domestic violence and Raja was evern ordered by the court to stay away from Shweta.

Raja finally agreed to Shweta getting the sole custody of Palak after she let go of the couple's apartment in Mumbai.

Shweta's real life drama made headlines while her career was at the peak while she was playing the role of a lifetime as 'Prerna' in the television serial 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay'.

So, has real life taught both 'Prerna' and 'Komolika' critical lessons that they cannot let go of? Are they now above the superficial emotions displayed by other contestants in each season?

It is obvious that despite facing unsurmountable obstacles in their personal lives, contestants like Shweta and Urvashi have emerged as winners because of the lessons that real life has taught them.

That is what makes them winners in real and reel life.
