Rani Mukherji shakes a leg with Madhuri Dixit

Rani Mukherji bowed down to Madhuri Dixit doing a full namaskar, laying flat on the floor in front of her, reprots The Times of India.

While both Rani Mukherji and Vidya Balan were absolutely elated to meet the original Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit on the sets of a dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla jaa, the senior actress went a step further, said the daily.

A self-confessed Madhuri Dixit fan, Rani Mukherji went ahead to the extent of bowing down to her original inspiration doing a full namaskar, laying flat on the floor in front of her.

In complete awe of the actress, Rani Mukherji was quoted by the daily as saying, "Madhuri Dixit has been my all time favourite actress. I loved the way she acted and danced".

The duo also performed together on the 'Dola Re Dola' song from Devdas.

'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' Part 2

Amitabh Bachchan reveals Karan Johar's interest in a follow-up to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

He brought together the three biggies of Hindi cinema - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan - in his blockbuster hit Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001 and filmmaker Karan Johar is now pitching for a sequel to the family saga, reveals Big B.

"Karan Johar and we talk of cinema and other lighter moments. His visit to Goa and the sudden impulse to do a sequel to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, for he felt that all the relevant characters were still around and 'how'," Big B posted on his blog.

"It would be a story on the growth of the brothers and the problems that arise because of their independent understanding and working of the business empire of the father, a split within them and so on," he added.

Also starring Jaya Bachchan, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor, the movie was the highest grossing Indian film in the overseas market.

An active blogger, Amitabh has now left his decision for the Part II on the fans' discretion.

"I tell him I shall run a reaction to this on my blog and seek information on its feasibility. So what does everyone feel? Yes or no? (sic)... Tel me tell me tell me...no," he wrote.
 
 
Javed Akhtar banned over royalty issue

Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar has been banned by the Film Federation of India.As row over whether composers and lyricists should get royalty gets uglier.

It's a move that may well change India's outdated copyright laws. But it has also divided the film industry in two groups. Hindi hit songs could soon earn their composers and lyricists big bucks. But the proposed amendment to the copyright bill which will secure royalty share for them, has the film industry divided.
 
And in a move to oppose the amendment, Film Federation of India, the mother body of all film associations has banned lyricist Javed Akhtar.
 
Javed Akhtar, lyricist, "I don't care. Honestly I don't care. At most they will not give me any work. But that's not the issue. Alright I won't be there. So what? Whoever else is there you have to pay royalty to them. That is important.
 
Some like actor Aamir Khan, who was earlier trying to sort out the issue with composers and writers have now decided to take a backseat. 
 
Bollywood heads to Goa

Everyone who is someone in Bollywood seems to be heading to Goa at this time of the year.

The list is big - from Anil Kapoor and daughter Sonam Kapoor and Ajay Devgn with wife Kajol and kids to Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle - everyone has taken time off from their schedules to bring in 2011 in Goa.

With as many as 98 Hindi films under-performing drastically, activity in Mumbai's studios has come to a near-standstill. The only major film to be shot in studios in December was Anees Bazmi's Ready, with the star of the year, Salman Khan.

Bazmi, despite being regarded as one of the more box office-friendly directors, was not in the mood to rejoice. After admitting that his latest comedy No Problem had failed to live up to expectations, Bazmi was reprimanded by producer Anil Kapoor for calling a spade a spade.

"No Problem will finally be one of the profit-making films of the year," says Bazmi, when in truth there were only 15 profit-making films in 2010, including Abhishek Choubey's Ishqiya, Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan, Dibakar Banerjee's Love Sex Aur Dhokha, and Anusha Rizvi's Peepli(Live). Recent releases  Band Baaja Baraat and Tees Maar Khan also seem to be doing well.

Reeling under the impact of massive flops, Mumbai's studios are wearing a deserted look this year-end.
