Bollywood's Manisha Koirala is now cancer free

Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala who has been fighting her battle against cancer is finally free from the deadly disease.

The actress was overwhelmed with the news and shared it on her social networking site.

She wrote, "I burst out crying when I heard "cancer free" I still have long way to go for regaining my health,slowly n steadily..with your prayers n blessings I received during this phase I m sure that day too will come!! In gratitude for the compassion I saw,felt in so many..my old and new friends,my family,my cancer club members who inspired me with their spirit,my ammabhagwan n oneness family n you all my fb n twitters friends its your unyielding love that helped me!! I call this as my "rebirth"."

The 42-year-old Bollywood actress after being diagnosed admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after which she flew down to the US for further treatment.

Manisha, who hails from a prominent family in Nepal, has worked in several Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam movies.

As Manisha fought her battle with cancer she was upset with the fact that no one from her own working fraternity were by her side.

Even though Manisha has received support from her family friends, who ensured she received the best of medical treatment in New York, the actress seemed anguished over the no-show from her Bollywood peers.

"How slowly, shadows of my past friendships are becoming distant dream... did I have bunch of friends with whom there were promises of life time? Disappointed, yes I m...but then life fills you with new hope, new friends...hoping this time round it would be rooted in deep values rather then just crazy, fun times!!" a depressed Manisha wrote on her Facebook page.

None of her colleagues, except actress Deepti Naval, stayed in touch with her during her illness, laments the actress

The film fraternity has always been infamous for its share if fair-weather friends. And Manisha Koirala learnt it the hard way.

Manisha, born August 16, 1970, is also a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador and social activist.

Manisha got married to Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal but few months back Manisha returned to Mumbai after splitting with her husband.
