Bollywood's Rs100-crore girls: Deepika, Priyanka, Katrina, Sonakshi

When Bollywood blockbuster '3 Idiots' (2009) touched the Rs202 crore (Net box office in India) it was truly a cause for celebration for Indian cinema. (Rs1crore = Dh600,000, approx.)

Not only was this critically acclaimed film the first to hit a double century; the movie also set a benchmark for the rest to follow.

Soon hoards of movies coming from Bollywood entered the elite Rs100 crore club in the domestic market.

Many a times the blockbuster films featuring A-list actresses are sidelined from the elite club. The credit often pours on the lead actor.

We take a look at some of these actresses who has been part of this elite club:

SONAKSHI SINHA





Actress Sonakshi Sinha can be called the lucky charm of Bollywood. From her very first movie 'Dabangg' the actress entered Rs100 crore club. Out of six films that she featured in till now four are members of this elite club - 'Dabangg', 'Dabangg 2', 'Rowdy Rathore' and 'Son of Sardaar'.

DEEPIKA PADUKONE

The scripting of Deepika Padukone's year 2013 has been perfect so far. Going by her success rate at the box office and among the audiences there seems to be no stopping of this leggy lass.

She had three releases this year - 'Race 2', 'Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani' and 'Chennai Express' - all three films have earned Rs100 crore. Her latest release 'Chennai Express' is smashing all records at the box office.

And there's another one to come this year with Ranveer Singh - 'Ram Leela'. Well, we expect more of her films to join the club.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA

This year 'Barfi!' won all the awards that count in India and was also the country's nomination for the Oscars. It received critically acclaimed and so was Priyanka Chopra's acting.

The movie made it to the Rs100 crore clubs and elevated her as one of the top class actresses.

'Agneepath' opposite Hrithik Roshan had very limited opportunity for Priyanka to showcase her talent, nonetheless, is also entered the same club.

KATRINA KAIF

Thanks to the superstars of Bollywood Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif has two Rs100 crore films in her kitty.

The actress starred opposite Salman in 'Ek Tha Tiger' and Shah Rukh Khan in 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. Both the movies came out in 2012 and that placed and Katrina became one of the highest paid actresses in the country.

KAREENA KAPOOR


The glamorous Kareena Kapoor has been part of '3 Idiots' whose record till now remains intact.

Kareena was the leading lady opposite Aamir Khan and made quite a good impression despite her limited screen space. 'RA.One' opposite Shah Rukh Khan and 'Bodyguard' with Salman Khan also entered the elite list of Rs100 crore grosser.

Her film 'Talaash' earned Rs131.78 crore worldwide but failed to earn Rs100 crore only in domestic box office.

ASIN


Asin's first Bollywood film 'Ghajini' with Aamir Khan was one of the first films to earn Rs100 crore. She again tasted success with 'Ready' opposite Salman Khan and 'Housefull 2' opposite Akshay Kumar.
