Akshay, John to bring ‘Desi’ flavour to Dubai

A little birdie informed us of this big news and we couldn’t keep mum much longer, knowing many a female heart will flutter when we reveal that brawny John Abraham and the hunky Akshay Kumar are allegedly scheduled for a Dubai visit next week.

The Bollywood duo, along with co-star Deepika Padukone, are rumoured to be in the emirate ahead of the release of the romcom, “Desi Boyz” on November 24 across the UAE, on a promotional visit.

It is unclear as yet whether actress and co-star Chitrangada Singh will also be attending. However, a reliable source in India has alleged that trio will fly into Dubai on November 22, meet the press and fans, and head to a club night promotional event, before jetting off in 24 hours.

Emirates 24|7 was unable to get a confirmation from production house, Eros Entertainment, while the Dubai-based event management group, Infinity Media, declined to comment on the news.

The film, which has been directed by debutante Rohit Dhawan, son of the king of comedy David Dhawan, sees Abraham and Kumar pair up once again after Priyadarshan brought them together in “Garam Masala” back in the day.

“Desi Boyz” has been in the media of late for its comparisons to the Priyadarshan film, but Kumar has gone on record to vehemently deny that it could even remotely resemble a “Garam Masala” sequel.

Agree or disagree, the lead male pair have certainly created a fan frenzy during the film’s music launch where Abraham and Kumar took to the podium and set the stage ablaze, literally, with a live fire-breathing stunt.

The story chronicles the lives of no-gooder Jerry ‘Rocco’ Patel (Kumar) and investment banker Nick ‘Hunter’ Mathur (Abraham) who fall on hard times when the latter loses his cushy job courtesy the recession.

With no course of action left, they duo decide to diversify their skills as pole dancers, naturally.

Padukone plays Abraham’s on-screen fiancée, Radhika, while Singh’s Tanya is romanced by Kumar.
