Dubai’s Bollywood Eid party starring: Kareena, Bipasha

There is never a dull moment in this city with the upcoming festival of Eid kickstarting the entertainment cycle of Bollywood flyby visits for promotional campaigning.

Ranbir Kapoor and cousin Kareena Kapoor are just some of the top celebs jetting down to Dubai in a few weeks, with Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Rampal to possibly tow along for the photo ops.

Following that are stars of ‘Raaz 3’, with Bipasha Basu and Emraan Hashmi joining the ranks for a promotional stopover and a possible film premiere.

Star spotting

The UAE, which is a cash cow for the Indian film industry’s box office earnings, has become a regular spot courtesy its close proximity to Mumbai, home to Bollywood’s starry lights and kitsch.

In the past seven months of star-studded events, Dubai has seen A-listers such as Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Kareena, Imran Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka and many other celebs strut into the emirate for a promotional blitzkrieg.

For the fans, this can only spell good news that step out in droves to sneak a peek at their favourite icons.

Starting off post the Ramadan lull is Ranbir, who is scheduled to zip into the city on August 29, with organisers, Dream Advertising and Ministry of Events, hosting the award winner for his upcoming, ‘Barfi’.

Rumour has it that lead star Priyanka Chopra may also hop along for the ride; no news of the film’s other co-star, Telugu superstar Illena D’Cruz is forthcoming.

As usual, the Kapoor lad will do his media round before heading to a local mall to interact with the fans, said Syed Imad (Group CEO) of Dream Advertising.

Produced by UTV Motion Pictures in association with Ishana Movies, the film releases across UAE cinemas on September 14, and chronicles the take about a physically challenged boy called Barfi (Ranbir) who enters a bitter-sweet relationship with two ladies, Shruti (Ileana D’cruz) and Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) sets in motion a chain of events that will turn his life upside down.

Four days post the Dubai event, Ranbir’s cousin Kareena will fly by Dubai to possibly utter a few more controversial lines about the city, as her character has in the trailer of her upcoming ‘Heroine’.

Okay, maybe not so controversial during a live event, but Kareena will be joined on September 3 with director Madhur Bhandarkar, where the duo will also visit a mall and host a Bollywood-esque after party.

Co-star Rampal may also attend the event, but no confirmation has come as yet.

Releasing across UAE cinemas on September 21, ‘Heroine’ chronicles the life and times of a Bollywood superstar.

And just when you thought you had breathing room, post ‘Heroine’ a birdie tells us the world premiere of ‘Raaz 3’ will also take place the same week in Dubai on September 6.

The latest horror offering from the Bhatt camp, ‘Raaz 3’ talks about the turbulent times of an actress, played by Bipasha Basu and how she begins to turn to black magic to destroy a budding star (Esha Gupta) and get back the man (Emraan Hashmi) she loves.

All three stars, along with director Vikram Bhatt and producer Mahesh Bhatt, are expected to jet over to walk the red carpet.

Interestingly, the film is in the director’s own words, based on his tumultuous affair with actress Amisha Patel.

This should be interesting.
