It’s almost tradition for Aamir Khan to unveil his movie during Christmas. It was until now.

But now Aamir’s actor-pal Salman Khan has decided to ignore this custom and snatch his Christmas gift away.

Sallu has scheduled his action-thriller ‘Dabangg2’ for the festive season despite knowing that it has exclusively remained Aamir’s box-office fortune.

At least, until last year.

Shah Rukh Khan had also broken this tradition by releasing ‘Don2’ during Christmas last year.

While all the three Khans are known to favour a festive season each, with Salman for Eid, Shah Rukh for Diwali and Aamir for Christmas, this year will put forward a new trend.

Although Salman and Shah Rukh didn’t break their tradition this year, with ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ getting an Eid release and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ a cracking Diwali launch, it’s only Aamir who is left with a date that’s not in keeping with his festive ritual.

His movie ‘Talaash’ will hit theatres on November 30.

Although there were rumours that ‘Dabangg2’ will be launched in November, and ‘Talaash’ in December, the dates have been swapped.

Aamir, who has always benefitted by the Christmas magic, with his movies ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Ghajini’, and ‘3Idiots’, turning into massive blockbusters, it will be interesting to see if Salman profits from it too.

From ‘Wanted’ to ‘Dabangg’, to ‘Ready’, to ‘Bodyguard’, to ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, Sallu movies have remained exclusive to Eid, with many in the industry claiming the star’s superstitious about it.

This is going to be his first Christmas release in 23 years, after his debut blockbuster ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ released on December 29, in 1989.

According to the Indian media, Salman is keen on quashing the Eid custom. “He believes that the content of ‘Dabangg 2’ is even better than the original. So he will try to defy the Eid release myth,” an Indian movie website reported.

Apparently, first-time director and Salman’s brother Arbaaz is also hopeful of banking on the Christmas buzz. “Since our film will be ready by the year-end, we decided on Christmas. The long weekend should be good for us,” he told the Indian media.

Aamir, however, will regain his December lucky slot with Rajkumar Hirani’s “P.K”, by already booking a Christmas release date for 2013. “Yes, December 25, 2013 is the release date of P.K,” confirmed a source.
