Aishwarya suddenly keen on Aaradhya’s public life

Her 39th birthday celebrations saw a brand new side to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. For an actor who has fiercely guarded her little girl from the prying media, Ash stepped out for a public outing with her little baby girl.

It was an event that honoured her with a second highest French civilian award titled 'Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters' (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres).

Strangely, Aishwarya who we’ve seen struggling to keep her little girl away from the flash bulbs by covering her face with a hood, an over coat, a paper pad, or almost anything, is now willing to step out in the spotlight with her little girl.

Ever since Aaradhya’s first public appearance for her granddad Amitabh Bachchan’s recent birthday bash, or her mom’s big day, it does appear that her attendance is going to be marked only by special family occasions.

And, considering she’s just days away from turning one on November 16, she might be gearing up for yet another public bash.

During the event in Mumbai, little Aaradhya was overwhelmed by the attention and started crying. Her dad Abhishek had to take her out to pacify her, while her mom was on the dais accepting her award.

Aishwarya even broke into baby talk over the microphone to pacify her but to no avail. “I was warned about this,” responded a giggly Aishwarya, mid-way into her speech.

Interestingly, from when Aaradhya was born to her naming ceremony, there has been a mystery surrounding the little girl, with the Bachchan clan obsessed about hiding her and the media reluctant to let go until they caught a glimpse of her.

Ash, who had herself stepped away from the spotlight post the arrival of Aaradhya, had insisted that she was merely protecting her little girl from the glam world.

“No, we are not hiding her (Aaradhya) from the world… She is a little baby, a very delicate child. So when you see that she is being photographed, your protective nature takes over. You don’t want a child to be disturbed by the flashlights. So your hands instinctively come closer to her face. I was simply trying to wrap my arm around her. We are not playing a game of hide-seek here,” she reportedly told the Indian media.

“I understand it is your job to take pictures and bytes. But she (Aaradhya) is newly woken up to this world. I don’t want the child to get hassled.”

Ironic then that Ash choose such a public event to bring her little girl to.

Some members of the media fraternity were shocked by Ash’s recent decision. “Isn’t it strange that she choose to bring her baby to an awards ceremony. Any parent would know that babies are bound to get uncomfortable and cranky in such stiff surroundings,” reasons an entertainment reporter.

Her Bollywood peers, however, aren’t as regimental about their babies as she has been. From Lara Dutta to Aamir Khan, they’ve embraced their kids into their public lives without much hoopla. Whether it’s stepping out to the airport or taking them out for a stroll, the babies are allowed to just be.

Has Aishwarya suddenly decided not to follow Michael Jackson, and do a Victoria Beckham instead?

Whatever her reasons, the next time round, she needs to plan a more befitting outing for her little girl.
