It’s that time of year again when cash registers start ringing for the band of Bollywood’s hottest leading ladies, as organisers grapple to score the biggest star for their New Year’s Eve gigs.

The money spinning game has many spenders, with celebrities charging top dollar for a mere 30-minute gig that sees them rolling in millions by the time the clock strikes 1am.

This year is no different, with Bollywood’s item queens, Bipasha Basu and Mallika Sherawat emerging as the highest paid divas for the night.

Both actresses are said to be charging Rs15 million (approx. Dh1.09m) for a half an hour gig, with Bengali beauty, Basu confirmed to groove at the Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai.

The actress was quoted in the media as saying: “I will perform on some great songs from ‘Race’, ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, definitely ‘Omkara’ and ‘All The Best’.”

Meanwhile, ‘Jalebi Bai’ Sherawat will be performing at an NYE gala in Los Angeles, where, if reports are to be believed, the actress will also earn Dh1.09m for the gig.

Sherawat is not new to the field of Bollywood item shows, with the ‘Murder’ actress earning as much as Rs400,000 or Dh27,000 per minute for her hipshaking at hotel in Mumbai last year.

In case you’re wondering, she performed for 30 minutes.

Rounding up the top trio is none other than adult film star turned Bollywood leading lady, Sunny Leone, who is expected to rake in approximately Dh673,000 for a 20-minute, err, dance?

The middle tier this year comprises starlets such as Prachi Desai who is expected to rake in Dh33,650 for a gyration in a Mumbai nightclub, while surprisingly Sameera Reddy will earn around Dh32,000 for a 10-minute twirl.

Bhojpuri queen, Shweta Tiwari, will jet off to Dehradun, as per reports, to earn approximately Dh30,000 for a jiggy. We expect she will be showcasing her moves from reality shows such as ‘Nach Baliye’ and ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’.

Meanwhile, the super post Aamby Valley will feature Priyanka Chopra’s cousin, Parineeti Chopra, who will set the stage ablaze with her ‘Ishaqzaade’ co-star Arjun Kapoor, and starlet Anjana Sukhani at ‘Glitterati 2013’.

News is, the young award winner will only be paid, gulp, Dh67,000 for the gig.

However, Chopra couldn’t stop gushing at the event’s pres conference, saying: “I will be performing on my own songs like ‘Jigar ka tukda’, ‘Jhallah wallah’, ‘Main Pareshan’ as they have done well.”

“I am very excited… New Year is a time when you can make more money than normal.”

Oh dear.

But where are the show stoppers?

Meanwhile, even as enterprising minds sign up for the Bollywood money spinning night, there are stars such as Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor who simply refuse to take up such offers.

It is being reported that Kaif was offered over Dh2m for a private gig in Dubai, but the diva declined the offer as traditionally she always spends the holidays with her family.

Also, the newly-married Begum of Patudi or Kareena Kapoor is expected to jet off to Gstaad, Switzerland for a much delayed honeymoon with Saif Ali Khan.

Husband comes first with the diva.

The other surprise news of this year’s performances, is Madhuri Dixit’s so called rejection from the tier range.

Rumour has it that the mother of two wanted to performs at an event for NYE, but was passed over for a younger, hotter star.
