‘Mr India 2’ on hold…

While some filmmakers seem to be minting money remaking old classics, there seems to be a list of films whose sequels, while seemingly being contemplated, have yet to see the light of day.

Somewhere near the top of this list is ‘Mr India,’ said to be India’s first superhero film. The news of this film’s sequel has been doing the rounds for quite some time, but there have been no developments on it still.

‘Mr India’ was produced by Boney Kapoor, while his wife Sridevi played the female lead opposite his brother Anil.

Now that Sridevi is slated to make her comeback with ‘English Vinglish,’ the industry has started talking about the ‘Mr India’ sequel yet again.

Sridevi herself wants to be a part of this sequel. “I would be very happy to be a part of the film. I would be glad if I can be a part of it.

“I think I definitely will be a part of it,” says Sridevi. While Sridevi might be ready to star in the sequel, nothing can happen until producer Boney gives his nod.

Other sequels to certain classics also seem to be stuck in some sort of quagmire.

The sequel to another iconic film, ‘Khuda Gawah,’ starring Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi was being planned by producer Mohan Desai. However, nothing seems to have materialised so far.

While sequels to these films are stuck, the remakes of films from the 80s and 90s are proving to be successful.
