Shahid-Priyanka back together…

Just eight scenes together in ‘Kaminey’, yet Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor’s chemistry was the talk of the town when the film released. And now the duo has teamed up for another film, a love story, with 75 scenes together. And that makes us imagine a lot about their sizzling on screen chemistry. Sharing her experience of working with Shahid, Priyanka says, “I think we’ve always worked really well together as co-stars, it’s always great to work with him.”

Meanwhile, Shahid says: “It’s a pleasure working with her. I think Priyanka is one of the finest actresses we have today. In one of the stories, in the film, she plays a superstar, and I’m a struggling musician. That I guess is the same in real life too. Atleast, the first part of my character ‘struggling’,” he laughs. But try and steer the topic from Sasha’s reel to real life love story, and all you get is a dose of Shahid’s humour, that’s a way of escaping the topic in disguise. “As for now, there is a love story between me and Kunal Kohli. Oh! I shouldn’t have revealed that though,”

Clearly, it ain’t easy to get Shahid to spill the beans on his rumoured link-ups and the truth behind them. But as they say, try till you succeed.

‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ is an out an out love story in three different time zones – 1910, 1960 and 2010. It’s about two souls in three different lives, hence PC and Sasha play three different characters each in the film. Now that does sound difficult. But well, it’s Piggy Chops we’re talking about. Remember she played 12 characters in ‘What’s your Rashee?’ and sported seven different looks in ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’?

Yet, ask Priyanka which was the most difficult or exciting amongst the three time zones, and she says, “I think 2010 was the easiest, since it portrays the current scenario. The contemporary love story, but it was still challenging because we had to make it look natural. But the rest time zones, it was really exciting to shoot, because I thought I’m kind of in that era, I got to know about that era, which was even before independence – 1910. Though what was challenging was to bring all of these three characters together, and make it look like one soul, one film.”

Since, we’re talking about a love story, ask Piggy Chops her take on love and she says, “I believe in love, and as clichéd as it sounds, ‘Love makes the world go round. And I love so many people round me, starting with my family.” Though, the true cancerian, and a die hard romantic PC, admits that, she no longer gets impressed by the quintessential ‘flowers and chocolates’ kind of love. “I think it’s beyond that. I’ve got bored of it now. Just the flowers and chocolates thing doesn’t work for me. Love is much more than just about that, and much deeper an emotion.

PC has been in news recently for her friend’ comments in a Mumbai daily, followed by the remarks that filmmaker Karan Johar made about her on a public platform like twitter. At a recent event to launch the first look of ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’, when a question with regards to this, was thrown at Priyanka, her director Kunal Kohli came to her rescue. “Can we pertain the questions to the film only please? Next question,” is how he fended the questions. Little wonder, that Shahid and Piggy Chops didn’t reveal anything about their real life equation too.

Hence, coming back to the film, a love story with a tagline ‘Thrice Upon A Love Story’ and has rumoured exes Priyanka and Shahid playing love birds, indeed might raise the curiousity levels. Though, the promo has been getting a good response, as far as the film is concerned, you just never know! After all, nothing works better than a good script backed by great performances.

Talking of ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’,  Shahid says, “There are three different love stories, combined into one film. It’s about the same souls in three different lifetimes and how you meet your soulmate in different lifetimes.” Having said that, does he believe in ‘janmon janmon ka saath’? “Yes, I do believe in it. Infact, I believe in love, I think it’s the most beautiful feeling ever. And this film makes you think if love has changed over ages.” But in today’s day and age, love is somewhere losing its charm and importance. ‘Janmon Janmon ka saath is a distant dream, it’s just a tedious task to find love in one lifetime. Tell about our observation to Shahid and he quips, “Yes, that is true. And probably this film, it’s our way of escaping the reality, and bring back the faith and hope, that you would find love. Why isn’t it possible to find love?”

Sasha has essayed three different characters in the film. Ask him the one character, he relates the most to, or loves the most and he responds, “It’s interesting for me to see myself in three different characters, and go through those emotions. There is this character of Javed, which I love. In typical language, I’d call him ‘dil-phekh’. He is flirts with every woman, and is extremely good with his shayaris.” Yes, one does get a glimpse of that in the promos of the film, and that very much reminds us of Kunal Kohli’s earlier film ‘Fanaa’.

Shahid further adds, “I wish I could do shayaris like Javed, but then in the film I was very nervous about reciting those shayaris, because in Kunal’s earlier film, somebody like Mr Aamir Khan did it. So, it was difficult to live up to that and make a similar impact even this time.”
