Brad Pitt calls ex-wife Jennifer Aniston

Hollywood star Brad Pitt has reportedly sent ex-wife Jennifer Aniston his congratulations on hearing the news of her engagement to actor-director Justin Theroux.

The 48-year-old actor called Jennifer Aniston, with whom he split in 2005, to say how pleased he was to hear the news, reported Daily Mirror online.

Theroux proposed the former Friends star at his 41st birthday dinner.

"Brad gave Jen a quick call to say how pleased he was to hear that she was getting married. He jokingly asked if he should 'save the date', and they both laughed, but told her in all seriousness that he was really happy for her and Justin," a source said.

"He wished her luck and told her he hopes they're very happy together," it added.

Pitt is also set to marry his partner Angelina Jolie, who he started dating shortly after splitting from Aniston, in the coming weeks and she also wished him well.

"Brad and Angelina are due to marry in the next few weeks and she (Aniston) wished him all the best for his wedding, too," the source said.

Although Aniston, 43, and Pitt don't speak too often, his mother Jane may still get an invite to her wedding, as they remained friends after the separation.

"Brad and Jen don't get in touch that often as they've both moved on with their lives. Jen does still chat to his mum, Jane, so there are rumours in Hollywood that she will make an appearance at the wedding. But the guest list hasn't even been started yet, so it's too early to say for sure," the source added.
