Jailed, bailed and now ready to fly.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was sentenced on May 6 to five years in prison for killing a homeless man and injuring others with his SUV in a 2002 hit-and-run case.

Salman got immediate bail, which was followed by the Bombay High Court suspension the actor's jail term pending appeal.

Now news emerges that the 49-year-old actor is ready to fly to Dubai for a Bollywood award night.

He is gearing up to perform at the debut Arab Indo Bollywood Awards on May 29 at Meydan racecourse.

The organisers sent out statement to media houses confirming his presence and sale of tickets.

Can he travel?

But can Salman Khan travel to Dubai?

The actor will have to seek permission in order to travel outside India, and his passport is held by the police. Deciding on the conditions of bail, Judge Thipsay asked if Salman's passport was with him and was told that it was in the possession of the Bandra police and the actor routinely sought its permission before going abroad.

So, Salman Khan has the right to seek permission to travel abroad.

At the time of publishing, his representatives did not respond to queries from Emirates 24|7.

Along with Salman, top Bollywood stars are scheduled to perform at the Arab Indo Bollywood Awards, including Priyanka Chopra, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Dhawan, Parineethi Chopra, Neha Dhupia and Kanika Kapoor.

The event by Benchmark in association with Al Bustan Group, will be hosted by the filmmaker Karan Johar and TV presenter Manish Paul.

Tickets are available at UAE Exchange outlets and www.aibagulf.com.
