Indian film industry will be shining at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, and why not, the Festival de Cannes will welcome a large delegation from the Indian film industry to Cannes to celebrate the one hundred years since the birth of cinema in India.

Superstar Rajnikanth will be visiting the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for the first time to launch the trailer of his much-awaited film 'Kochadaiyaan'.

Rajnikanth’s next film has been in the news since its announcement for a number of reasons. First, the motion capture technology used to make it was talked about for being state-of-the-art and then Deepika Padukone’s casting was the big news.

And now the trailer launch at the Cannes.

The film has various versions — Tamil, Telegu, Hindi and English. The international version’s trailer will be launched there for the English-speaking viewers.

Australian director Baz Luhrmann’s 'The Great Gatsby' will open the Film Festival on May 15 and will set the tone for an exciting 12-day French Riviera extravagant.

This prestigious occasion will also be graced with the presence of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, as well as the American pop star, rapper Jay-Z.

But Amitabh Bachchan is not the only Bachchan to visit the Cannes this year. In a statement to Emirates24/7, daugther-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's spokesperson confirmed that Ash will attend the Cannes as the L'Oreal Paris ambassador.

India, in 2013, is to be the third 'guest country' at Cannes, following Egypt in 2011 and Brazil this year.

Rajni's 'Kochadaiyaan' seems to be racing towards the finishing line. The dubbing of the movie is on full swing at a premier sound studio facility in the city and Rajini has completed dubbing his portions for the first half of the movie already.

With the movie’s release, Rajnikanth will become perhaps the only actor in the world to have been featured in movies from the Black and White era, colour films, 3D  (with Sivaji) and now in motion capture technology.

The source goes on to add that Rajni will reach Cannes on May 16, but the details are being worked out. The film is directed by the superstar’s daughter Soundarya R Ashwin and will release in India later this year.

'Kochadaiyaan' is Asia’s first film made using motion-capture technology, which was previously used in 'Avatar' (2009) and 'The Adventures of Tintin' (2011).

The film stars Deepika Padukone, R Sarathkumar, and Jackie Shroff among others.
