If Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s appearance at Cannes this year is being watched and tracked more than some of the movies at the film festival, it was largely due to the critics looking for a fashion faux pas.

Either way, Ash seems not bothered. When asked about her baby on the red carpet she said, "'(Motherhood) is wonderful. You ask the question and I beam!" she said.

"It’s splendid... It’s inexplicable.The joy, the bliss, is wonderful. A smile from my daughter and that’s it! She’s good. She’s great."

Well day one and round one went to Ash, as the Bollywood star who recently became a mum giving birth to a daughter Aradhya pulled off her red carpet sashay in style.

Ash arrived at the 2012 amfARs Cinema against AIDS at Hotel Du Cap in Cap D'Antibes dressed in a cream and gold embroidered saree.

Her ethnic outfit for Friday was desgined by duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla.

Day two could go to the critics.

Ash decided to let go of the slim look and directly go for what some fashion blogs are already calling a glorified housecoat. It is actually a Roberto Cavalli kaftan with shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti that Mrs Rai- Bachchan is wearing for this the Media Call.

The rumours doing the rounds are that since the photcall was going to involve close-ups, Ash did not want to risk her post-pregnancy curves, the subject of much debate and discussion getting too much exposure.
