Aishwarya Rai's affair continues... off to NY

Today marks six years since Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan tied the knot, and the couple is celebrating their big moment in New York.

After staying back in Vancouver, post a film awards event, the duo headed to the Big Apple to continue the celebrations.

And, they aren’t alone. They gorgeous little daughter Aaradhya is also with them.

According to The Times of India daily, the Bachchans also visited Shweta Bachchan's mother-in-law Ritu Nanda, who has been hospitalised in New York.


Another Indian media reported that the two even indulged a few fans in New York by posing for pictures.

Their wedding, back in 2007, was a much celebrated event, but it also received much flak for how the Bachchans handled the media.

Many reporters were injured in the chaos that ensued when they attempted to capture the newly-weds.

The Bachchans have since apologized for that oversight, and insists they wanted to keep the celebrations private.

The Abhi-Ash love affair has been one of the most talked about.

They first met in 1997 on the sets of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’ and 10 years later they tied the knot.

“The first time I met Aishwarya was in August 1997. I was on a recce for my father's film ‘Mrityudata’ in Switzerland, and she was shooting for ‘Aur Pyar Ho Gaya’ with my dear friend Bobby Deol,” the actor had told an Indian daily.

“I remember one evening Bobby invited me over to his hotel for dinner and Aishwarya and the rest of the unit were there. That was the first time I actually met her, although I had obviously seen her before, since she was Miss World and all that.”

The romance actually happened six years later on the set of JP Dutt’s ‘Umrao Jaan’.

The two remained tight-lipped about their affair until they got married on April 20, 2007.
Abhishek had revealed that he had popped the question to Ash soon after the New York premiere of ‘Guru’ at the same hotel balcony where had he had once dreamed of marrying her.
