Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner fled to the Bahamas with their three children "to get away from the media spotlight" as soon as the news of their divorce broke.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner fled to the Bahamas with their kids as their divorce news broke.

The Hollywood couple - who announced they were divorcing after 10 years of marriage a day after their 10th wedding anniversary on Tuesday - were spotted with their children - Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel - at a private Bahamas resort on Wednesday, where they're staying to "get away from the media spotlight".

A source said: "It was important for both Ben and Jen to get away from the media spotlight and spend quiet time with the kids. They have been spending a lot of time with the kids. This has been hard for everyone, but they are both doing everything to put the kids first."

The source went on to add that the 42-year-old 'Gone Girl' actor looked "gray", while his 43-year-old former wife seemed happier.

Speaking to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column, the source said: "Ben looked more gray then usual. but Jen was in great spirits. Jen seemed in a great mood, and was spotted working out with a trainer.

"The gray - it's a concern. Ben and Jen are just worried about how the kids will adjust. That's why they went away together."

This week, a day after their 10th wedding anniversary, Affleck, 42, and Garner, 43, who have children announced they had "made the difficult decision to divorce."

Ben Affleck + Jennifer Garner - 'two different people'

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are "two different people" , a source has claimed.

The problems between the Hollywood couple - who announced their divorce after ten years of marriage on Tuesday - reportedly got "bigger" as the years went on.

A source told PEOPLE magazine: "They are really two different people. Problems got bigger in their marriage after a few years."

Meanwhile, a friend has claimed the couple split over Ben's close relationship with his ex-fiancée Jennifer Lopez.

They said: "Everyone is talking about J-Lo and Ben and saying it's inevitable they will get together again at some point. We call them the Richard Burton and Liz Taylor of Hollywood.

"They were pretty flirty at the Oscars and have stayed in touch over email. Jennifer Garner never liked it."

The pal also insisted a split has been "on the cards" for the pair - who have three children, Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and Samuel, three, together - for a long time.

They added: "This has been on the cards for some time - it's a miracle Jen hung on so long. She has really tried but recently Ben has been back to his old self. He was drinking again while filming 'Gone Girl' and has been gambling loads too.

"Jen's fed up with him flying off to Vegas for gambling sessions and going on other solo trips, leaving her holding the family together. Their household is pretty much alcohol free so he would disappear when he wanted to indulge."

Ben Affleck 'devastated'; Couple almost split three years ago

Ben Affleck is 'devastated' following his split from Jennifer Garner and battled to try to save their 10 year marriage.

The 42-year-old actor, who announced he is divorcing the actress after 10 years of marriage in a joint statement on Tuesday reportedly 'battled' to try to save their relationship for the sake of their three children, Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and Samuel, three.

A source close to the 'Gone Girl' star said: "He's devastated. Nobody intends to go down this path. They both battled, and he really battled to try and save the marriage but ultimately it was the best thing for the kids and for him and Jen.

"These are two people who really tried to save their marriage and worked really hard at it. Ultimately they had grown apart and they did what was best for their kids."

The Oscar winner, who has been staying in hotels for the past few months, is now building a separate bachelor pad on the grounds of their Pacific Palisades home in California so he can continue to be a hands-on father, and the duo have hired a mediator to help them divide their vast fortune.

The insider told People magazine: "These are things that they have consciously done because they want to make sure that this is as easy as they can make it on the kids."

Ben's passion for gambling was allegedly a major issue between him and Jennifer, 43, but another source claims the 'Dallas Buyers Club' actress was more upset about his hectic work schedule, which prevented him for being a 'present husband.'

The insider told gossip website TMZ.com she felt ignored and neglected, and they argued frequently over the amount of film projects he was taking on.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner almost split after son's birth

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner almost split up three years ago after their son Sam's birth, but the 'Argo' director stayed for the sake of their children.

The former couple, who confirmed they are in the process of divorcing on Tuesday (30.06.15), reportedly went through a rough patch when they welcomed their three-year-old Sam into the world in February 2012.

A source close to the duo said: "They were in couples therapy for years. They were going to divorce when Sam was born but you know how it is - baby comes and solves the issues for a bit but it's just a Band-Aid. It hasn't been working for ages."

The Oscar winner, 42, who also has daughters Violet, nine, and Seraphina, six, with the 'Dallas Buyers Club' actress, 43, 'stayed in' the relationship 'longer than he wanted' for the sake of their children.

The insider told Us Weekly magazine: "Ben truly wanted his idea of family life and the idea of family he had growing up in Boston. So he stayed in it longer than he wanted to because of the kids and the idea of family, but he couldn't save it."

The pair, who are said to have secretly separated 10 months ago and are still sharing their home in the Pacific Palisades, California, announced the sad news in a joint statement, saying: "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce.

"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."
