Bollywood diva Sunny Leone 'caged' for Dubai debut show

If it’s Sunny Leone, controversy comes in as a close companion.

So Dubai fans of the one-time adult star turned Bollywood diva, take note, because the ‘Jism 2’ actress is all set to groove in the emirate later this month in her debut performance on these shores.

Emirates 24|7 can exclusively reveal that the 31-year-old Leone will be dancing at Chi @The Lodge Domeland on April 19, courtesy organisers Premier Production House (PPH).

And that’s not all.

She will be in a cage.

Javed Shafi, CEO of PPH revealed further details, saying: “We wanted to create a new concept for introducing Sunny Leone to her fans in Dubai and that’s when we hit upon the cage idea.”

Shafi revealed that Leone will be positioned in the centre of the venue in a cage, “where she will personally greet her fans.”

He continued: “Her performance, though, will not be in the enclosed space; this was just a unique way to introduce her to the masses.”

The organisers are expecting a sold-out crowd for the night, with approximately 6,000 fans of the actress, with Shafi adding: “Sunny will perform to three or four popular Bolllywood numbers and interact with the crowds for at least 30 minutes.

“There is also a surprise act planned, which will only be revealed on the night itself.”

He continued: “Meanwhile, we are also hosting an exclusive VIP event a night earlier, on April 18, with only 25-30 people having the opportunity to interact with Sunny aboard a private yacht, for 1.5 hours.”

Shafi added that it would be a “pad invitation only” event, which will be handled at the discretion of the organisers.

Also sharing a platform with Sunny during her April 19 stage performance will be local DJs Hani, Shadow and Aseef.

“Sunny has fast become a heartthrob with thousands around the world, and we are hopeful that her wow factor will guarantee a full house on the night,” he added.

Tickets for the April 19 event are priced at Dh100 per person, with special limited VIP tables also available.

Canadian national Leone, who’s real name is Karenjit Kaur Vohra, burst on to Indian television screens back in 2011 when she was roped in as the surprise entrant into the reality TV show, ‘Big Boss 5’ house.

During her brief stint there, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt entered the premises to sign her on in her debut Bollywood films, ‘Jism 2’, directed by daughter Pooja Bhatt.

The adult star has also signed Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Ragini MMS 2’ and will be seen in May on screens in her item song, ‘Laila’ from ‘Shootout at Wadala’.

Earlier this week, the siren also made headlines after signing on as a brand ambassador for an energy drink in India for a reportedly whopping Rs15 million.

She is married to Daniel Weber, who is also her business manager.
