Actor Charlie Sheen was released from a New York hospital on Tuesday evening after being taken there in the early morning hours when he was found highly intoxicated in Manhattan's Plaza Hotel.

He was taken in New York after being found highly intoxicated at New York's Plaza Hotel, police said.

He was eight days away from the end of a probation period in a domestic violence case.

Police responded to a call from the hotel early Tuesday morning to find the troubled star of the hit TV show "Two and a Half Men" acting highly intoxicated and incoherent. The actor then voluntarily agreed to go to the hospital, according to police.

Sheen's publicist Stan Rosenfield said in a statement the 45-year-old actor had reacted badly to an unspecified medication.

"What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse allergic reaction to some medication and was taken to the hospital, where is expected to be released tomorrow," he said.

Earlier, local media reported Sheen was with an unidentified woman and found drunk and naked in a trashed hotel room after a night of partying and that he had become enraged after discovering his wallet was missing. The actor has been in New York visiting his ex- Denise Richards, and their two daughters.

Police said no complaints were made and there was no arrest. No criminal charges are expected.

But whether he will go to jail remains to be seen.

Eight days left

In August, Sheen pleaded guilty to assaulting his third wife Brooke Mueller and was sentenced to 30 days in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic and placed on probation.

Sheen is just eight days away from completing his probation in his Aspen domestic violence case, and the celebrity website TMZ quoted a source at the county’s District Attorney’s Office as saying authorities are aware of the New York incident.

Should Sheen be found guilty of violating probation, the Aspen DA could go back to court and ask the judge to throw Charlie in jail.

Prosecutor Arnie Mordkin told TMZ his office would not take any action unless there are facts conveyed to his office showing that a probation violation occurred.
Looks like the actor may just get away with it.

He is now reportedly on his way back to Los Angeles by private jet, where it is expected he will head to the Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, where he has been staying on and off for months.

The actor's legal troubles have had little effect on his popularity. "Two and a Half Men" remains America's most-watched TV comedy series and earlier this year Sheen negotiated a deal with network CBS that took his pay to a reported $1.8 million per episode.

Sheen – the son of actor Martin Sheen – started performing at the age of nine.
