The Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique has shed his defensive tag and gone public with ultrasound images of his son with pop singer Shakira.

Excited mom-to-be Shakira hasn't been coy either about the upcoming birth of her first child. As soon as Pique tweeted the images of his son, Shakira reweeted the post for her followers.

In September, Shakira happily announced her pregnancy on her website.

Shakira told her fans: "As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.

"This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival, but I'm sure this weekend in Las Vegas will be spectacular and I will be closely following everything that happens there!

"I'd like to thank Clear Channel and my fans for their constant love and understanding.

"Big kiss! And will see you very soon! Shakira."

And since then, the "Hips Don't Lie" star has not only shared adorable photos of her and her baby bump on Twitter, but she also went on television to proudly announce the baby's gender (it's a boy!).

Singer has already been performing during her pregnancy as well as filming for the next series of the US show The Voice, where she is taking on the role of a judge.

The talent show starts in March and she will be releasing a new album around that time.

Shakira will be doing all this while juggling being a mother for the first time with her baby, who is due early in 2013.
