Deepika opens up about befriending Ranbir

Published

Working in a close environment with your ex is never easy given a couple's shared past. However, Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor have been doing their best in letting bygones be bygones and moving ahead with their professional commitments and their joint decision to work together a couple of years after their split.

The couple do need to be praised for being brave enough to make an attempt to get back together professionally given their sizzing on-screen chemistry.

Other celebrity couples who broke up in the past have made it clear that they do not intend to share anything - not in real or reel life.

Be it Rekha-Amitabh, Aishwarya-Salman, Bipasha-John or Kareena-Shahid - the audience will not see them working on the same project ever again. Needless to mention that it is a total loss for the industry as had these couples changed their minds, the industry would have been forced to open an elite 200-crore club for the hit pairs.

Kudos to Karan Johar for doing the unprecedented and roping in Deepika and Ranbir for his 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani'.

On the issue of being friends with Ranbir, Deepika spoke candidly to Hindustan Times:  “I didn’t plan the break-up, neither did I plan to become friends again. Every relationship has its own journey. Ranbir and I are friends today, but I’ll say it’s an individualistic decision. Some people can manage it and some cannot. I believe it is possible to be friends with your ex if you are ready to let go of the past and stop wondering what went wrong.”

“People keep asking themselves or their estranged partners, why did it happen? In our case, it’s been so long that we’ve both moved on. I’ve stopped questioning, and have accepted things the way they are. I value the relationship Ranbir and I shared and what he brought to my life. If I have to move on, which I have, I have to stop asking questions.”

Clearly, this pair have set a precedent for the split couples of Bollywood with their professional attitude.
