When the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi married actress Sharmila Tagore on 27 December 1967, she was dressed in a traditional wedding ensemble that was handed down to her by her mother-in-law, Begum Sajida Sultan of Bhopal.

Maintaining the tradition of the Pataudi household, Sharmila will pass on the traditional wedding dress to her son's would-be wife actress Kareena Kapoor.

Earlier reports suggested that under the guidance and supervision of ace designer Ritu Kumar, 12 skilled craftsmen have worked for over 4 months to restore Begum Sajida Sultan's wedding dress.

Now Kareena's favorite designer, Manish Malhotra, have had enough of other designers taking credit and hogging headlines for designing the trousseau.

The designer claims that only he has designed all the outfits that the actor will wear during various functions around her upcoming wedding with Saif Ali Khan on October 16.

Manish claims that for the past two weeks, the workers in his factory have been painstakingly restoring Sharmila’s old wedding dress that Kareena will wear for her nikaah (wedding) on the 16th.

He has put lot of effort into carefully restoring the golden zardosi work on the ancient ensemble which will be passed on to Kareena.

When he was informed about reports suggesting other designer too working on the same dress he seemed clueless about it.

He categorically said the reports are not true and it is he who is working on Kareena's wedding dress.

In fact Manish is designing all of Kareena’s outfits for the occasion and also Kareena's elder sister Karishma's outfit.

For a pre-wedding function on the 14th, Kareena will wear a garara (traditional Muslim outfit).

Then she will wear Sharmila’s royal lehenga (Indian dress) on the 16th for the register marriage, followed by another lehenga for a party with close friends in the evening.

For her more formal reception in Delhi on the 18th, Kareena will be seen in an exquisite sari.

In an interview to Hindustan Times Manish Malhotra informed that the groom, Saif Ali Khan's, wordrobe will be designed by Raghavendra Rathore.
