Chalk one up to Russell Brand and Katy Perry. They’ve managed to outwit the media.

The pair’s wedding venue remains a mystery after it emerged this week after the Rambagh Palace Hotel denied that the celebrity lovers were formalising their relationship at the Jaipur property.

"We are not sure from where this news emerged. We have vacant rooms for the day when everyone says this marriage will take place," a source at the Taj Group hotel told the IANS news service. "Moreover, we in Rambagh Palace do not host formal wedding parties, though there are a few exceptions," said the source.

Online reservations systems also show rooms vacant at the hotel over the period from October 22 to 26.  "Either the dates are different or the venue is different or the couple is planning to get married alone," the source said.

The pair were engaged at the luxury heritage hotel on New Year’s Eve, and there has been much speculation that they were to marry at the same venue.

For nearly two centuries, the Rambagh Palace has been home to generations of royals. Built in 1835 on a modest scale for the queen's favourite handmaiden, Kesar Badaran, it was later refurbished as a royal guesthouse and hunting lodge. In 1925, Rambagh was converted into a palace, and became the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur.

The palace remained the home of the Jaipur royal family until 1957, when it was first converted into a luxury hotel by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II.

Brand and Perry are to marry on October 23 and they are flying out 85 friends and family for the celebration. Among the guests scheduled to attend Rihanna and P Diddy.
