John Abraham says he is already married...

After being inundated with theories surrounding his marital status, Bollywood’s heartthrob John Abraham has finally set the record straight, by confessing, exclusively to 'Emirates24|7', that he is married.

“I’m married… in my head,” he clarified, clearly indicating that it’s only a matter of time before he’s going to be struck off the ‘most eligible bachelor’ list.

“I’d love to settle down and I make no bones about it,” he admitted.

“Honestly, without evading the question or being politically correct, I don’t know when I’m going to get married, but the fact is there’s an intention.”

And the woman merited for sweeping him off his feet is hot-shot investment banker Priya Marwah. “Yes, she’s the one. Priya is really special to me,” he gushed.

In fact, John’s public appearance with Priya, in February, at his cousin Susy Matthew’s Mumbai book launch, after months of shielding her away from the spotlight, had prompted the media to speculate about his love affair.

But the event that actually sent the rumour mills into a tizzy was John’s December trip to LA to meet Priya’s family and celebrate his birthday with them.

“Now, after ‘Vicky Donor’ there shouldn’t be any reports that I’ve got children floating around,” he quipped.

It’s understandable why the actor has chosen to keep his new romance under tight wraps, after suffering a much-publicised break-up when his decade-long romance with B-town bombshell Bipasha Basu went kaput.

In Dubai, to unveil his production house J. A. Entertainment’s maiden venture “Vicky Donor”, John was at his charming best.

His movie career, too, is looking up, with the actor’s film diary choc-o-block with promising projects. “There’s “Shootout at Wadala”, “Race2” and “Dostana 2”, but after “Vicky Donor” it is a beautiful, coming-of-age film titled “I, Me Aur Mein”. It’s about how a man comes of age with the women in his life,” he elaborated.

Even his production house is brimming with activity, with filming starting in August for the Aditya Bhattacharya-directed dark comedy “Kala Goda”. “It’s an extraordinary team. Aditya is the one who made the incredible “Raakh” with Aamir Khan and it’s written by Akshat Verma of “Delhi Belly” fame. It’s about two cops, played by Kunal Roy Kapoor and me, but the male lead is Kunal. Then I have “Jaffna”, a massive action film with Shoojit Sircar.”

And, he’s also sporting a much-leaner look, which isn’t effected by juggling actor and producer duties, but by popular demand. “Everybody kept telling me to look normal, so I had to tone down. I did have a problem… if you see my song in “Vicky Donor” you’d see how fit I looked. Actually, I don’t think it’s a problem. I’ve always adored Sylvestor Stallone and I just love working out.”

In fact, there was added pressure from the filmmakers as well. “In “Housefull2”, if you noticed, I was much leaner. And, I had to go really lean because Sajid Khan was like, ‘John you are playing comedy not an action hero, you need to look normal’. Similarly, in “Jaffna”, Shoojit didn’t want me to stand out for a certain train sequence.”

Despite being a hands-on creative producer, from being involved in “the shoot, to the post-production, to the music, to the marketing, to the media, to sitting in front of you”, John found the entire exercise “absolutely stress free”.

Wonder if his financial expert/ladylove Priya was accountable for easing off the budgeting load? But, not that he’s willing to disclose. “I can confidently say I’ve worked out my revenue model well. And when the first ticket for this film is sold, it’s going to be a plus.”

His creativity, however, does suffer a setback while naming his production house, J. A. Entertainment, or so, we thought. “You’ve got a valid point. I was producing ad films for the last 3 years, and the name John Abraham carries a lot of weight because of my brand endorsements, so by default the production house was titled the same. But we have registered another name and in the future we’d be looking at producing two verticals – one for alternate, and one for commercial films.”

Unlike his peers, John’s happy not to act in his maiden venture, even though, he concurred that he does make a darn good sperm donor himself. “Like Ayushmann (Khurrana, and male lead) said I’m the perfect alpha male but the point is that when Shoojit and I, chanced upon the script, we were clear from the onset that it required a fresh face.”

Although sperm donation is a taboo subject, that makes “men get shifty”, he is confident that, “it’s about being smart, about selecting a great first film to present my production company with”.
