Katy Perry thinks Taylor Swift "unmeasurably capitalises on the take down of a woman."

The 'Dark Horse' hitmaker waded into the war of words between her long-time rival and rapper Nicki Minaj over the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominations and in a thinly-veiled attack suggested Taylor, 25, is a hypocrite.

The 30-year-old star shared her thoughts on the dispute on Twitter on Wednesday, writing: "Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalises on the take down of a woman..."

Shortly afterwards Nicki, 32, favourited the tweet.

Katy later added: "The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1... @MTV (sic)"

The brunette beauty and Taylor, who have both dated John Mayer, have been embroiled in a feud, which is believed to have inspired Taylor's latest track 'Bad Blood,' for some time.

The spat between Taylor and Nicki erupted on Tuesday after the hip hop star bemoaned being nominated for just three VMAs, with her hit 'Anaconda' being overlooked for the top prize, Video of the Year.

She tweeted: "When the 'other' girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.

"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.

"I'm not always confident. Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it (sic)."

But Taylor - who received nine nominations in total - felt the tweets were aimed at her and hit back: "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."

Nicki then accused Taylor of missing the point of her argument, but the duo eventually reconciled their differences.

Nicki Minaj's war with Taylor Swift; Kim Kardashian dragged in

Taylor Swift has invited Nicki Minaj to join her on stage at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards after they got into a war of words on Twitter.

The 25-year-old singer and the 32-year-old rapper got into a war of words on Twitter, with the 'Blank Space' hitmaker initially accusing Nicki of pitting "women against each other" after the 'Anaconda' hitmaker admitted she felt snubbed after only receiving three nominations ahead of the upcoming awards ceremony.

Shortly after the nominations were announced on Tuesday (21.07.15), Nicki tweeted: "Hey guys @MTV thank you for my nominations. Did 'Feeling Myself' miss the deadline or...?

"If I was a different 'kind' of artist, 'Anaconda' would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well.

"When the 'other' girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.

"I'm not always confident. Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it (sic). "

The 'Bad Blood' hitmaker, who received a total of nine nods, including for Video of the Year and Best Female, clearly felt targeted by some of Nicki's cryptic tweets and replied: "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.."

But Nicki fired back: "Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this.

"I'm still confused as to why u just tweeted me when I made it abundantly clear..."

She later added: "They're not missing the point, they're just attempting to overshadow the point. Oldest trick in the book."

Taylor then attempted to bury the hatchet by inviting Nicki to join her on stage at the event in Los Angeles on August 30.

She wrote: "If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on."

But the 'Only' hitmaker merely retweeted a string of messages from her fans, including one which reads: "Believe it or not, there are some things that are so much BIGGER than you, @taylorswift13. You owe @NickiMinaj an apology."

Kim Kardashian dragged in

Kim Kardashian found herself dragged into the Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift Twitter feud on Tuesday.

In an apparent case of bad timing, Kim denied that the Kanye West quote she used on one of her tweets the same evening had anything to do with the musicians' rift.

The reality star shared photos from her Vogue Spain photoshoot and captioned one of them 'Imma let you finish but...' setting social media ablaze as fans assumed she was siding with Nicki.

But seemingly oblivious to what was happening between Nicki and Swift, Kim made it clear that it was purely coincidence.

She said: "Wait wait I'm in Paris it's the middle of the night & I'm posting my Vogue Spain pics not having a clue what's going on in the music world."

She added: "I'm not trying to shade anyone! That's not my style! I just thought that caption was perfect for that pic! Changing the caption now! #ironic."
