Lindsay Lohan certainly isn’t rocking the jailhouse. In fact, if reports are to be believed, inmates are upset over how the pop tart is receiving special treatment from authorities – treatment that could extend to a sentence of just nine days!

The British newspaper The Sun quoted an anonymous source as saying the pop tart could be out of jail much sooner than expected.

The 24-year-old began her sentence on Tuesday and it was originally thought she would serve around 23 days due to prison overcrowding.

But after she entered Lynwood Jail in California police documents showed she could be free after just 14 days.

The publication’s source said: "The sentence keeps shrinking. The new estimate is she will be released after nine days if she behaves herself. The latest sheriff's documents are saying 14 days but she can knock a few more off that. I expect her to be out shortly after next weekend."

She could be a free woman as early as Wednesday next.

Special treatment

A day after they cheered her arrival, fellow prisoners are grousing about the actress, saying that she is getting special perks ‘inside’, including her own cell.

"She's getting special treatment. Some inmates were getting pissy over it," newly released Debra Sickels, 30, told the New York Daily News. Sickels said that during her stint, she was in the infirmary every day for medical treatment, "and the girls said they cleaned a special room for Lindsay. It had a regular hospital bed, a TV and a dresser for her new clothes and socks."

Other just-sprung inmates told the publication they heard Lohan was paying for special food and new clothes and had a female guard at her disposal and access to a private phone. Inmates are usually only allowed to spend a maximum of $135 (Dh495.86) a week in the commissary for snacks such as Spam and Kit Kat candy bars.

LiLo has also been given special permission to take some prescription drugs while inside, according to TMZ.com. These include the stimulant Adderall to treat attention deficit disorder and the sleeping pill Ambien. Adderall is also taken recreationally as a cocaine substitute.

Family visits

However, officials have denied the allegations.

"She's being treated like any other inmate in her classification. There's no special treatment at all," said Los Angeles sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

But rules were clearly bent to allow Lohan’s family to visit the Lynwood jail where she is being held. Yesterday, her mother Dina, 47, and sister Ali, 16, visited the jail, staying for just over an hour, but it is unclear if they were actually able to see the actress.

Visitation is normally reserved for weekends, although prison wardens at the California women's prison can make exceptions.

An exiting inmate said the jail was put on an hour lockdown for the visit.

"I sat there for four hours waiting to get released because of her," said Sharell Gaines, 30, a Watts resident who spent a week in jail for traffic tickets. "They put us on lockdown and told us not to look. It's discrimination. She's a criminal, just like me."

Defense lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley also stopped by yesterday.

Hemingway for company

The “Mean Girls” star was jailed Tuesday to serve a 90-day sentence for violating her probation by missing a string of alcohol education classes this year.

She spends 23 hours a day in her cell and is said to have requested her family take her a copy of Ernest Hemingway's “The Old Man and the Sea” to help keep her occupied.

When she arrived in handcuffs and tears, prisoners yelled out her name and shouted, "God bless you!" She then posed for her prison mugshot, appearing to pout and possibly smirk for the camera. Her booking sheet at the prison says she weighed 8st 6lb and is 5ft 6in tall. It also says she has blonde hair but, strangely, black eyes.

Lohan is expected to serve as little as two weeks because of good behavior and jail overcrowding.

Her 12ft x 8ft cell, which is next to Alexis Neiers, who was convicted as part of the Bling Ring burglaries and is serving  time for burglary at Orlando Bloom's house.

The wild child  spent about 84 minutes in jail in 2007 for a drunken driving offence, reduced from her already trimmed day-long sentence because of the overpopulation issue.
