Prince Harry made his first public appearance since Las Vegas outing, attending the WellChild Awards yesterday.

The young royal was seen in public for the first time since his infamous Las Vegas pool party - where he was pictured with no clothes on after a game of strip billiards - at the WellChild Awards, held at the InterContinental Hotel in London.

Royal sources say he was keen not to let his antics two weeks ago overshadow the ceremony, and determined to show his support for the charity, which awards children and young people whom it considers to be the bravest in Britain. He has been a patron of the organisation since 2007.

Harry, 27, appeared at the event in a blue suit and spotted pink tie, and was due to meet with youngsters privately before joining them for tea and handing out the award for Most Inspirational Child Age 3-6. The prince was also due to give a speech at the event.

A source told website MailOnline: "Prince Harry is keen that what has happened does not overshadow what is going on today. He knows and understands there will be a lot of press interest because of recent events but just wants to focus on the children. That's why he is there."

Harry is also expected to make an appearance at the Paralympic games, which are currently being held in London, later this week.

Kate Middleton vows to support Prince Harry

Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has vowed to suport her brother-in-law Prince Harry through his naked photo scandal.

The duchess has a close bond with Harry and told her husband Prince William they should pledge their full support to him following the incident, which saw him pictured nude following a game of 'strip billiards' in his Las Vegas hotel suite.

"William called Harry straight away and gave him a bit of a telling off. But Kate pointed out he had already been through the ringer and deserved their sympathy," contactmusic.com quoted a source as saying.

"She's promised to support him as much as possible and offered to help him come up with a recovery plan to get his public image back on track," the source added.
