Rajesh Khanna to receive civilian honour posthumously

Bollywood's first superstar, Rajesh Khanna will be conferred with India's third highest civilian honour, Padma Bhushan, postumously. The announcement was made on Friday by the Indian government.

The actor passed away in July 2012 at the age of 69.

Khanna is survived by his wife, Dimple Kapadia and two daughters - Twinkle and Rinkie. His family members are extremely happy after hearing the good news.

Khanna's son-in-law and actor Akshay Kumar told The Times of India: "I am really very happy. I am obliged that the government has recognised my father-in-law's work. I am extremely happy." Akshay is married to Rajesh Khanna's elder daughter Twinkle.

The other Bollywood artiste to receive the same honour this year is none other than Rajesh Khanna's co-star Sharmila Tagore. The famous pair has delivered many hits in the past - Amar Prem, Aaradhana, among many others.
 

Bollywood's comeback queen, Sridevi will be honoured with Padma Shri by the Indian governement for her contribution to Indian cinema.
