Robbie Williams marries in booze-free ceremony

Published

Pop singer Robbie Williams reportedly married actress Ayda Field in Los Angeles yesterday, at a ceremony that was alcohol-free.

He tied the knot with American-born Ayda in front of 25 family and close friends at a lavish Los Angeles ceremony yesterday that was largely organised by his doting mother, according to the Daily Mirror newspaper.

Turns out his beloved mum Jan, 69, was keen to see her once wayward son finally settle down and “live a normal life” – while football-mad Robbie chilled out watching re-runs of classic England games.

The marriage comes after a three-year romance between Robbie, 36, now re-united with Take That, and Ayda, 31, who starred in Channel 4 comedy drama "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip".

The couple's wedding comes amid reports they hashed out a pre-nuptial agreement to protect the singer's £80million fortune.

The paper quoted a source as saying: “Robbie and Ayda love each other to pieces and are over the moon at getting married. In the past Robbie told people he would never settle down, but when he met Ayda something changed in him and he could envisage a long-term future and a family for the first time.

“The moment Jan met Ayda she realised she was a hugely positive influence on Rob and the longer the relationship has gone on she has become convinced he is perfect for her. Seeing all Robbie’s problems over the years has broken her heart and she truly believes settling down will help him live a normal, happy life.”

Yesterday’s ceremony started at 5pm California time at Robbie’s £4million Beverly Hills mansion after he ditched plans to ferry guests to Santa Catalina island off the California coast. Yesterday finishing touches were put to his home, with flowers strewn round the marquees in the garden.

Rob’s best friend and former flatmate Jonathan Wilkes, 32, delivered a meticulously-planned Best Man’s speech to guests including US actress Claire Danes and her British actor husband Hugh Dancy who, like Robbie, was born in Stoke on Trent.

Alcohol was banned because of Rob’s past problems with drink and prescription drugs.

Robbie and Ayda are now expected to jet off on a two week honeymoon to Los Cabos in Mexico before he returns to the UK to promote new Take That single "Shame".
