'Starry' marriage made them famous

Bollywood celebrities are known for their work on the big screen. However, at every red-carpet event and social dos, their better halves cling to their elbows and in the process have become well-known themselves. Some ahve graduated and have gained star value of their own.
Many of these spouses have come into limelight only after marrying the who’s who of the Indian film industry. Here’s a list of the better-halves who have grabbed attention over the years.

Gauri Khan: Married to the ‘Badshaah’ of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan for 21 years now, the two met when they were both in their teens and tied the knot in 1991 after SRK overcame Gauri's parents' resistance. She has been a pillar of strength to the star since the beginning of his acting career. Once “King Khan” came into spot light, she was not far away from reflected glory. The duo have a son, Aryan, and a daughter, Suhana. Gauri is the co-founder of their film production and distribution company Red Chillies Entertainment.

Dr Nene: It was love at first sight and Madhuri tied the knot With Dr Sriram Madhav Nene in 1999 . He is a renowned cardiovascular who practised in Denver for years. Dr Nene was unaware of the Bollywood beauty’s popularity at the time of the wedding. He was soon lured into the reflected limelight and got a taste of Madhuri's popularity. The couple has been blessed with two sons Arin and Raayan.

Sussanne Roshan: Although born to a famous Bollywood actor Sanjay Khan, Sussane’s wedding with Bollywood heartthrob Hritik Roshan brought her into the lime-light. Almost immediately after the success of his first film ‘Kaho na …Pyaar hai’, Hritik announced his wedding plans. Girls across the nation were envious of Sussane when media captured her with beau Hritik. It was speculated that the two would part ways when Hritik was getting too close to his ‘Kites’ co-star Barbara Mori. She apparently moved into her maternal home with son Hrehaan and Hridhaan. However, Hrithik mended his ways and there is peace and happiness in Roshan household.

Raj Kundra: Allegedly a successful businessman with interests in the UK, Raj Kundra came into spotlight after Shilpa Shetty started dating him, while he was married to his first wife. The pair got married in 2009 and was blessed with a baby boy earlier this year. After their wedding the duo invested in the Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals.

Manyata Dutt: Previously a small-time actress in the tinsel town, Manyata shot to fame after marrying Sanjay Dutt in 2008. She was seen in an item number in the film ‘Gangajal’ where she was named Manyata by the producer of the same film Prakash Jha. She was born as Dilnawaz Shaikh and prior to her wedding with Sanjay she was married to Mehraj-ur Raman. Manyata is Sanjay Dutt’s third wife.
