David Beckham has confessed that he was much more scared of poisonous frogs than of snakes while on his recent trip to South America, where he embarked on a 12 day trek through the rainforest.

The former soccer star recently embarked on a 12-day trek through the rainforest in Brazil with three of his closest friends for BBC documentary 'David Beckham Into The Unknown', and although he came face-to-face with deadly snakes, he was more worried about being attacked by the small amphibians.

In a clip from the programme, which sees the men camping for the night in "the middle of nowhere", David, 39, spots a snake slithering on the ground and admits that he's "not comfortable" with the situation as he doesn't like "not knowing" what's around him.

And although his fear was set off by the sight of a snake, he later added: "I was more scared of the frog I saw. I am not a big frog fan! It was bright orange and I was told it was pretty dangerous. I was a little nervous about that."

Meanwhile, David's 40-year-old wife Victoria - with whom he has sons Brooklyn, 15, Romeo, 11, Cruz, nine, and two-year-old daughter Harper - was more worried about her famous husband's hair going frizzy in the humid conditions than him being bitten by venomous creatures.

Before the former Los Angeles Galaxy star set off on his journey he received some advice from his family and Victoria suggested that he should "wear a hat the whole time".

She said: "I can't even go to humid countries because of my hair. What are you going to do?"
