Deepika congratulates Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif on engagement

That Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor were once dating each other is no secret.

Also the fact that Ranbir and Katrina Kaif tried hard to keep their affair a secret was obvious.

But the couple failed miserably hence resorted to subtle notes to media about their closeness, hopping around together, partying and even travelling together apart from living-in.

Now there is news that Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have gotten engaged.

As for Deepika, the brightest star in Hindi cinema right now, seems to have moved on in life and forgotten her sour relationship with Kapoor.

Since then Deepika and Ranbir have worked together in 'Bachna Ae Haseenon' and the superhit 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'. At present they are also working together in Imtiaz Ali's 'Tamasha'.

When media tried to get a reaction from the actress about Ranbir's rumoured engagement, Deepika comes up with a congratulatory message for the couple. "If that is true, I would like to congratulate them."

While 2013 was a superb year for Ms Padukone, the past year was almost a bit of a mixed bag.

2014 saw her film 'Happy New Year' reach the elite Rs 200 crore (INR) club and even though 'Finding Fanny' did not create any Box Office record, by virtue of being a niche product it did get her a lot of accolades and appreciation.

2013 had seen her film 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', 'Chennai Express', 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram Leela' and 'Race 2' get into the Rs 100 crore club.

Looking back, Deepika says that 2013 was once in a lifetime happening.

"2013 was a miracle of sorts and I don't think either you or me should ever expect that kind of year to happen ever again," she says candidly.

Deepika may well not expect an encore in her career, but then her line up this year in 2015 is rather impressive and she may well come close to emulating her own performance.

This year Deepika will be seen in 'Piku' with Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan that's releasing in April which is directed by Shoorjit Sircar and then there is 'Tamasha' with Ranbir which is being directed by Imtiaz Ali and then 'Bajirao Mastani' (with Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra) which is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

If she had four film releases she could have hoped to emulate, but she has three for sure.

Interestingly Deepika has worked in successful films earlier with Amitabh, Ranveer and Ranbir – 'Aarakshan' with Amitabh, 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela' with Ranveer and 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' with Ranbir.

There were rumours that 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Tamaasha' could clash by releasing on the same day, but Deepika brushes them off as mere rumours alone.

"I don’t know. I don't think so. I am sure our producers know what they are doing. I think my job as an actor is to be professional, be on my set, do my job and do it well and everything else is for the producers to decide," she says.
