Did Justin Bieber cancel Oman concert for Dubai?

While ‘Beliebers’ in Dubai are still kicking up their heels in glee over the news that Justin Bieber will perform in a second concert date here, scheduled a day after his May 4 performance, fans in neighbouring Oman are heartbroken.

It appears the concert scheduled for Muscat for May 6 has been cancelled.

Organisers, Alive Entertainment, said in an official statement that the Canadian pop singer will perform in an additional show in Dubai due to overwhelming regional demand.

The statement said: “Ticket holders for Oman who purchased online from Box Office ME will be contacted directly and will either be able to avail of swapping their tickets to equivalent concert tickets to the new Dubai date or get a full refund.”

News of Bieber’s second Dubai date broke yesterday, with organisers putting tickets on sale immediately.

Done Events COO, Thomas Oveson said: “As if selling out the biggest concert ever to be staged in Dubai wasn’t enough the Beliebers just won’t let us off the hook.

“Adding a second show to his first ever Middle East visit gives Justin Bieber and our team another great opportunity to accommodate the huge demand from Middle East fans wanting to see the show and so we are very excited that he has agreed to extend his Dubai stay by another day to help fulfil the dreams of more regional fans.”

However, fans in Oman are not too pleased with this sudden turn of events.

“This is crazy. We paid. We were promised. My children have been so looking forward to catching Justin Bieber in concert; they will be heartbroken,” said one frustrated parent on Twitter.

Another fan vented: “The May 5 concert is on a Sunday. Even if we agreed to drive up to Dubai from Muscat to catch him, we would have to take a day off work to accommodate this trip. It’s simply not possible.”

No comment on the cancelled gig has been issued from the Bieber camp as yet.
