Dubai bachelors listen up: Mallika Sherawat is looking for love

If Rakhi Sawant could do it, Mallika Sherawat can certainly do better.

Or at least that’s what fans of the Bollywood diva are saying upon hearing the news that she’s now on the hunt for the perfect match via a new reality TV show, which will air on Life OK.

Titled ‘The Bachelorette India – Mere Khayaalon Ki Mallika’, the show will see Sherawat weed through a bunch of hopefuls who will vie for her love, which may or may not end in marriage.

Who are we kidding? If Sawant refused to walk down the aisle, chances of Sherawat are slim at best, according to critics.

Based on the US-based show, ‘The Bachelorette’, the Indian format was launched on Tuesday when Sherawat told the world at large that she was like any other girl “looking for companionship and love”.

Talking about her ideal suitor, Sherawat revealed, “Intelligent, successful and breaks rules, someone like me. That’s the kind of the person I am looking for.”

The channel airing the show stated that format has been commissioned to the Zodiak-owned SOL Productions, which incidentally also produced ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’.

Dubai bachelors suit up

Online registration has opened for potential suitors, with applications accepted from far and wide.

Emirates 24|7 spoke to several Dubai-based bachelors who appeared keen to woo a Bollywood celebrity, with 34-year-old Anand K saying: “Why wouldn’t I apply? Mallika is beautiful, famous and single. No man in his right mind would say no to this. Where do I sign up?”

Bilal M, a 42-year-old said; “I love Mallika. She’s so nice. I want to marry her.”

Rahul S, however, said he would apply just for kicks, adding; “Oh come on, we know all these shows are scripted. Mallika Sherawat is not going to settle for a taxi driver or someone who performs a job that pales compared to her celebrity status.

“I will apply just for fun. Even I want to know how this works in India.”

Incidentally, the US version of the show has resulted in two marriages across its eight seasons, with several contestants and participants having been quoted in the media as saying each show has a plot and a story that is played out for ratings.

Reports claim ‘Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika’ will air across 20 episodes or 10 weeks, with no set date confirmed for the first telecast.

It is also unclear as yet whether the show will be broadcast here in the UAE across the Star TV network.

While fans wait for their chance to make the cut in the auditions, here's hoping for Sherawat’s sake that the best man wins her heart.
