Yes, we know the 40th UAE National Day is around the corner and the surprises in story will simply not compare.

However, this weekend’s agenda is such a draw that we simply couldn’t deny a diary post. Read on:

November 24

Michael Bolton Live in Dubai

The king of romance, complete with his throaty voice and that one-time famous mane, is set to croon his way into our hearts in Dubai, when he takes centrestage at the Madinat Jumeriah on Thursday.

Yes indeed its Michael Bolton, the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and social Activist, who has embarked on a 115 city world tour, with a little stop and a twirl in our sunshine city, before he jets off to break a few more hearts.

While Bolton’s career peak may have passed according to some critics, his deep baritone still commands a large fan following with classic hits such as “Said I Loved You But I Lied,” along with “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” and “Can I Touch You There.”

Presented by M Premiere, this will be Bolton’s first performance in Dubai, which has already seen some of the ticket categories selling out.

The singer kicked off his career back in 1975 with a self-titled using his original surname, Bolotin. His early years saw him focus on hard rock, with his band, Blackjack head banging its way into the hearts of fans.

His first major hit came in the form of “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You”, which Bolton wrote for Laura Branigan, and even for Cher, later on in his career.

A few successful jaunts later, Bolton’s real claim to fame came in 1991, with his album, “Time, Love & Tenderness,” which featured his Grammy Award winning cover version of “When a Man Loves a Woman”.

After over two decades of highs and lows, Bolton is on a comeback trail of sorts with a new studio album in the works, which sees him collaborating with the Academy Award Indian musician, A R Rahman.

Catch the singer live at Madinat Arena if you are a fan, with tickets starting from Dh350, all the way to Dh950 for the M Premiere VIP lounge. For tickets, call: 050 870 2674
