Rather than go the route of some celebrity parents, Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna decided to release their newborn daughter's baby picture.

According to Tatum, the choice was simple: be hounded by paparazzi, or control the release of the picture. He chose the latter and posted a family photo on his official Facebook page.

While promoting his new action film, "White House Down," with Jamie Foxx, the 33-year old actor said it was important to take "stalking photographers" out of the equation.

"We have paparazzi out in front of everything trying to get the first picture," he said. "And we didn't want to sell it."

Tatum added: "We just wanted to let the fans and whoever wanted to see it, and that's it."

Celebrities revealing baby picture to magazine has been a staple of the genre for years: In fact, we've seen it dozens of times in the past decade with A-Listers (Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez), reality stars (Kendra Wilkinson and Bethenny Frankel) and scandalous stars (Jamie Lynn Spears and Octomom) doing it.

But with Channing Tatum releasing his baby's photograph and not taking a penny for it may set a precedent for the new celebrity mommy-daddy to be.

Earlier it was said that Kanye West doesn’t want to sell out his daughter North West's picture and make money out of it, but a new report claims Kardashian matriarch and momager Kris Jenner is already crunching numbers on a deal for photos of Kim Kardashian‘s baby. Only time will tell if daddy cool wins the battle. In the meantime fake pictures of 2 weeks old North West are making its way to the internet.

Another highly anticipated birth is of the British Royal baby. Duchess of Catherine is due to deliver her baby in the second week of July. Paparazzi’s from around the world may camp outside the hospital for days ahead. But it is highly unlikely that Kate and Prince William will sell their baby pics.

The family will follow the traditional way to release pictures through Buckingham press. Even the birth will not be announced on Twitter, but a notice will be displayed on an easel outside Buckingham Palace.

Closer home, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan hogged the limelight for the longest time during her pregnancy and post-delivery. There were rumors suggesting that 2 international magazines have offered Rs 5 crores (INR) for first rights to Aaradhya's photographs. However, actor and grandpa, Amitabh Bachchan denied any such reports, saying he would never ever indulge in such rubbish. The over protective mommy hid her daughter for the longest possible time (almost 1 year) until she was hounded down by the paparazzi. A lesson for Aishwarya Rai... or maybe that's how she preferred it.

The 33-year-old actor and the 32-year-old actress, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who tied the knot in 2009 after meeting on the set of the movie 'Step Up' in 2006, welcomed their first daughter, Everly, into the world in London three weeks ago, and the 'White House Down' star revealed that she is a natural mother.

Speaking about the brunette beauty on 'Good Morning America' on Tuesday (25.06.13), Channing said: "She's good, I mean, she's tough as nails. Those first few weeks are hard but she's just swimming through them."

Despite being sleep deprived, the Hollywood heartthrob also revealed that he didn't realise how exciting parenthood would be.

He explained: "I've never been so excited when something poos, like, I just get so amped up, because it's like, 'I'm in the game now'. Mom does so much of the early work in those first few weeks that I'm like, 'Put me in the game, put me in the game'. I've gotten so good at changing diapers, swaddling and getting her back before she cries."

Channing also opened up about his bond with his co-star Jamie Foxx, who he instantly became firm friends with on the set of their new movie.

He said: "In the movie we're two people, that are from two completely different worlds, that ultimately end up understanding each other, but in real life me and Jamie got on the first minute we met each other. We're both southern boys so it was just easy."
