Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan is expected to attend next week’s Dubai International Film Festival, according to India media reports.

The actor may be fresh off a box-office disaster – his last film, ‘Guzaarish’, tanked rather spectacularly – but that clearly hasn’t dented his appeal.

Roshan was reportedly approached to walk the red carpet with Oscar winner Sean Penn, who will interact with fans at a public event next week.

Penn is set to attend the festival’s opening night gala screening of "The King’s Speech", a British film based on the true story of the British king George VI and his friendship with the maverick speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush).

Roshan has yet to be able to free up dates to attend. The actor is currently filming with Zoya Akhtar for the film “Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara” and told Indian media that he has begged the director for a few days off so he can meet one of his own screen icons.

The Times of India quoted Roshan as saying: "Yes, it is true. I am currently trying to work out my scheduled so I can attend this festival."

However, festival organisers were unable to confirm to Emirates 24|7 whether he is actually turning up or not, leading to speculation that the actor has not made up his mind whether he’s fetching up here or not.
