The fourth edition of annual classical music festival, coinciding with Navaratri festival, will be held next month, when about 150 singers from various GCC countries will compete to win prizes.

Ekata Navarathrimandapam Sangeethoslsavam 2015 is organised by Sharjah-based socio-cultural organisation, Ekata (Unity), which was started four years ago, to promote musical traits of Swathi Thirunal, a member of the Royal Family of Travancore.

The programme in Sharjah is held with support from the Thiruvananthapuram royal family.

Popular classical musicians from India including KG Jayan, Kavalam Srikumar, Nedumangad Sivanandan, Kuzhalmannan Ramakrishnan and Tripunithura N Radhakrishnan will be special guests as well as judges.

“More than 150 students and artists will bring their music to the festival. Those interested can register online by downloading the application forms from Ekata website www.ekatagroup.org

“When Ekata Navarathrimandapam Sangeethoslsavam was started in 2012, the cultural scene in the UAE was dominated by cinematic dance and other forms of dance performances and classical music performance was something unheard of,” said P K Sajith Kumar, Special Music Advisor to Ekata.

Classical musician and music director, KG Jayan (Jayavijayan), will be honoured with Ekata Pravasi Sangeethabharathi Award.

The musical festival will be held Marhaba Resort Auditorium, Sharjah, from October 14-22, 2015.
